Video: The ‘Incredible’ Kris Humphries

It’s interesting to see how teams campaign for their players at the end of the season. ‘Hump‘ won’t win MIP (Kevin Love) but a Second-Team All-Defensive selection isn’t out of the question.

Who could have seen this coming? I remember thinking a few years ago that guys like him didn’t belong in the league. I mean, he did absolutely nothing, and now, he’s a stud!

  • cnewells

yeah i saw him play with toronto and i was thinking wtf is this dude doing. now hes doin it big. SWAG

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

I’m still against Kevin Love for MIP.
Playing the exact same game but with more minutes (thus upping your averages) does not make you most improved. Sorry.

great improvement for humphries, I mean who would of thought he would be the player he is dating Kim Kardashian.lol

  • NJ4Life

    That’s our boy.

  • Fat Lever

I think the incredible hump should be the nickname for every time he fornicates with Kim K, not a marketing campaign for MIP and all defensive team.

  • tshane3

Its called the Kardashian effect lol

  • underdog

I bet, LeBron would trade Bosh straight-up for a hustle player like Hump.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

LeBron’s already got Haslem…sorta. When he’s not injured.

dude deserves it in my opinion.. he went from being a nobody to someone you have to constantly keep your eye on and really play hard against

  • http://http//portlandfan1203.blogspot.com Karley

Wow who would have thought he improved that much but i still think love is MIP.. He had the record for double doubles and he is leading his team to a FEW victories. If he was on a good team he could help them even more.

  • http://www.slamonline.com c_cantrell

    ^Karley..
if love was on a good team he wouldnt be able to help them anymore than he helps the twolves.. i mean dont get me wrong, dude is a good player and an amazing rebounder but still.. he was one of the few bright lights in minny, if he was put on a better team he would become alot duller pretty quick

I love that bit with Robin Lopez trying to get in his grill after the block. LOL. Dude, you got carded – just walk away instead of starting s__t with the bouncer.

  • Dagger

Obviously the Raps let him go. He didn’t fit with their vision of forming the softest team in league history. Ugh.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Having a pretty good season, the Kardasian effect indeed.. But I hate when guys named Chris spell it with a K..

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

It’s funny that this dude was considered a one dimensional scorer coming out of school, who got boards in college, but wouldn’t do the same in the league. Now he’s a hustle guy. That’s crazy to me.

  • Riggs

he’s playing like brook is SUPPOSED to play. Crazy.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I gotta get me one of these Kardashians.

  • D12FSU

MIP isnt out of the question for “The Hump” but no way he makes All D 1st team..i dont even know about 2nd

  • tom

he was already showing some of this in a dallas uniform, solid!

  • D-Block

LOL at the Humpty dance song…

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

man, he’d have a lot more double-doubles and a higher rebounding average if he played more minutes the beginning of the season

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

i mean, look at how much his numbers increase after favors was shipped out. he really started breaking out once he didnt have to share minutes

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

I think people are forgetting about KYLE LOWRY, the REAL MIP.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Great video though–pairing Digital Underground with Kris “Incredible Hump” Humphries was an awesome decision.
Also, Humphries is insanely valuable to the Nets because Brook Lopez one day decided to stop rebounding.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    LOL @ LakeShow.

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

Josh Boone could have been in Humphries’ situation if only he had a ‘motor’.

  • doyouwantmore

Great of Toronto to spend all those years developing him before trading him away. I mean you wouldn’t want a guy like this to hold back your star, Andrea Bargnani.

  • matt

He finally “got it”. On Toronto he tried to do way too much on offense. Now he finally knows his role and does it quite will, also helps his contract is expiring. He will get his $$$ this summer. (Not from the Nets though).

  • Nathan

    Reminds me of detlif shrimp

  • jufu

cosign NJ4Life from one nets fan to another

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

funny, seems we all forgot about Raymond Felton….easily a shoe in for MIP before the trade.

  • Groves

This dude is the type of guy that all people want on their teams in some form

  • O

Let’s keep it 100. He didn’t start producing like this till AFTER he got with Kim Kardashian. He gotta show that she ain’t with no bench warmer. Once they break up, we’ll see the old Kris again. Probably worse.

  • andre anglais

A funny story from a publicity thing Kris did when he was still in TO. He was messing around at a boys and girls club, playing bumper pool (remember bumper pool?) and then s little ping pong, takin it easy laughing… and then some kid starts playing him Pingpong for real, and apparently Kris just was like, no ay this kid is beating me and went all out. The point being, like 95% of all players, they feel like “the man”. That was his problem in Toronto. He obviously figured out how to play to his strength in NJ, kudos to the culture and coaching down there. Look for an unfortunate drop off from him if he gets a big contract and the expectations of plays called for him.

  • ClydeSays

Getting consistent minutes probably has something to do with it, but I’m always skeptical of a veteran player who ‘finally gets it’. It’s his 8th year in the League and he’s about to be a Free Agent. Call it the Mark Blount/Jerome James effect.

Let’s see how he performs in a year or 2 after some GM overpays him.

The video is pretty cool, but this whole campaigning for all-star teams and awards is really lame. The sportswriters and coaches are going to pick who they want(usually the trendy pick) no matter how good your marketing and video editing departments are.

  • Will Lee

good solid player. But that video is terrible

  • http://www.slamonline.com Mars

    Man confidence is a MTF.

  • Red Star

Toronto should have never let Humphries go! He is a work horse!! Glad he is getting his props!! Lakers 4 Life!!

  • http://dude Chukaz

When your guys is up against Kevin Love for MIP you don’t talk about his rebounding. You just don’t. Kevin Love got more 20 rebound games than Humphries got double doubles. Kris Humphries for MVP (most valuable playa). The man ain’t all that good lookin and he gettin quality a$$. He deserves some sort of recognition.
