Will the Timberwolves Fire Kurt Rambis?

The L-Wolves’ players say they want their coach to return next season, but he doesn’t appear to have the front office’s support (which is what truly counts.) The Star Tribune reports: “The Timberwolves finally said goodbye to a long, lousy season Wednesday night with a closing 15-game losing streak, the NBA’s worst record and the best chance to win the No. 1 pick in the June draft. With a 121-102 loss to Houston, they also perhaps said farewell to coach Kurt Rambis and former No. 6 overall draft pick Jonny Flynn. In a very strange day at Target Center, President of Basketball Operations David Kahn held a morning media briefing and sure seemed to say, without actually saying it, that Rambis will not return as coach … Their 17-65 record leaves them with the NBA’s worst by two games over a Cleveland team that set a league record for consecutive losses by losing 26 in a row this season … On Wednesday morning, Kahn said he expected more victories and more improvement from a team he said is significantly more talented than the one he inherited two years ago. He declined to discuss Rambis’ future, other than to say it will be one of the many things discussed within the organization in the coming days and weeks and months. Kahn’s meaningful avoidance left a coach who has eight NBA title rings as a player, coach and front-office manager with the Los Angeles Lakers basically to twist in the approaching summertime wind. ‘I have a contract, and I just work under those guidelines,’ said Rambis, who signed a four-year contract worth about $8 million two summers ago. ‘Until somebody tells me differently, that’s how I’ll approach everything.’ Rambis is 32-132 — a .195 winning percentage — in two seasons with a Wolves team that completely ripped up its roster after last season and started over with a roster that grew even younger, to the youngest in the league when this season started.”

    >Draft 3 point guards. >Hire Triangle Offense coach. Holy sh!t has Kahn ever had any idea what he’s doing? I feel the Wolves should have done better this year than they did, but this isn’t all on Rambis’ shoulders.

Rambis sure did stain himself in Minnesota.

I hope they don’t get rid of Kahn simply because I enjoy typing “KAAAAAAAAHN!!!” everytime he screws something up.

Doug Collins would have gotten more out those Timberwolves. Real talk.

who hired kahn? that guy should be fired… unless he’s the owner… then the team is just screwed.

Kahn is a complete j-asz. What coach in his right mind would line up next to get thrown under the bus?

They need to just fire the Timberwolves period.

Rambis was hired to run PJax offense and was given a Don Nelson roster to do it. Kurt was fired two years ago.

If the Wolves get the first overall pick, and take Kyrie Irving, do we still believe them when they say that Ricky Rubio is still their PG of the future?

The Wolves bombed in the draft the last few years. I still cannot fathom how they drafted 3 PGs in a draft and still don’t have a starting and backup PG!?!? Baffling. And KAAAAAHN!!!!-ism. Anyways, TWolves need to be contracted. No offense but I don’t see them going anywhere with that completely flawed roster of theirs. And I don’t get Kahn, why in hell did he hire Rambis when this team would thrive in the open court as a fastbreak team?! Idiot I say. But he sure has cap flexibility thing marked down.
