Joakim Noah to Bulls Fans: Stop Booing Carlos Boozer

Chicago fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the play of Carlos Boozer (who’s battling injuries) in these Playoffs, and they’re not shy about expressing this, something that teammate Joakim Noah would like to see curtailed. The Daily Herald reports: “Noah asked fans to ‘support every one of us,’ and it was obvious what he meant. The fans are getting restless with power forward Carlos Boozer. There was a murmur in the first quarter when Taj Gibson simply walked to the scorer’s table to check in for Boozer and audible cheers when the team’s primary free-agent acquisition of last summer left the floor. In Noah’s mind, that’s simply not acceptable. In the hallway after the game, he was passionate about the topic. ‘I love our fans. We have the best fans in the NBA, no question about it,’ Noah said. ‘But I understand our fans are very demanding and that can be very good and in some aspects that can be bad, as well. Carlos is in a situation where he’s hurt and he’s giving us everything he can. I’ve been in the position where I’ve been booed before in the United Center and I know to get to where we want to get to, we need Carlos. We should be supporting him. I don’t understand that.’ Boozer is playing through a painful turf toe injury suffered in the series-clinching win over Indiana last week. He contributed to the Bulls’ rebounding dominance Wednesday, grabbing 11. He hit 4 of 12 shots for 8 points. Noah was arguably the star of the game with 19 points and 14 rebounds. It’s an odd comparison, too, because Noah was a lost rookie when he was hearing boos at the United Center. Boozer, 29, is a nine-year veteran who has been an all-star, an Olympian and played in the conference finals. Obviously, that’s why the fans want to see more. ‘Not a lot of people know what that feels like to be a worker, work hard and be in position where you get booed by your home crowd,’ Noah continued. ‘Booz is an emotional player. The crowd has a lot to do with his game. He enjoys that. I enjoy playing to the crowd. The crowd has a big impact on what we do. We realize that. I just want to show some support for my teammate and what he’s going through right now, because I don’t think it’s fair.’”

They are real demanding but just wait till he gets healthy..Its just like that in every nba city the fans pay hard earned money to see great players and plays so when they dont get what they want they have to voice their frustration

  • Jdizzle

Why would you boo your own players? LA was booing Pau last night too. If you’re going to boo, boo the whole team.

  • bull22

i second that, bulls fans need to be patient. he may not have killer stats, but we need all of our players to advance.. go bulls!

  • Bruno

so first you say why boo your own players and then boo the whole team??? hahaha

  • vtrobot

fans boo, GTHF over it. how else are they supposed to show displeasure towards a player’s lack of effort or production? write a the guy a fu(king note?

  • Riggs

Bulls fans to Joakim Noah: nah, we good.

  • Riggs

also has anyone ever thought that they are just yelling “booooooooooooooooooooooooo……z?

  • robb

    ^^^^^
or maybe they were yelling at the Hawks: “Loooooooooooooooooooooose”

  • Mark Lewis

Give me his contract and you can boo me all day long!!!

  • Del

Boozer is soft and playing like sh*t! Damn, how many times do you get blocked before realizing you need to go stronger? We brought him to Chi for offense. I welcomed him as a fan because of the facts listed in article (Allstar, Olympian, etc) but i was nervous too. Injury prone and disappears in playoffs. The fans are ready to win!! Period! Besides, its not the fans you should be concerned with. When a player plays horrible like Boozer is doing rite now, fans will boo and management will start looking to “make moves”. If you want both to stop, PLAY HARDER!!

As i’ve said b4, im not gonna say anything negative bout Booz. I still hold out hopes of him redeeming himself n this series. And I don’t even mind him yelling and hollering all the time cuz that way @ least we know he’s not n a shell and being a cancer 2 the team. He’s actually been a positive and uplifts the team w/all his hollering.

That being said, he needs 2 produce. Its not just talk. Its backing it up 2. Here’s hoping he does redeem himself. Cuz we do need him no doubt

as annoying as his yelling and unproductive…ness is, he seems like a great teammate.
this won’t stop me from yelling ‘f*cking GARBAGE’ at my tv when he bricks a layup though.

  • @Deknowz

He’s a bum! and bums get booed. Those are the rules! lol

I couldn’t agree with Noah more, going on the road must be a relief for Boozer after copping it from the crowd. I get that a fanbase is frustrated, but Bulls are overachieving this season as it is, cut the team and Boozer some slack, especially when he’s injured.

  • Waggle

I hope Noah gets booed now for trying to stick up for booze ha

  • ThaWindy

Man thats just how it is in Chicago. We boo any body. We’d boo Rose too if he play like shi*. Ive been at Pro-Ams games and seen many players from Chicago get boo’d. One that stands out the most is Antwan Walker. He can score and still get boo’d…lol

  • 1982

Philly used to boo AI. Get over it.

  • fruizm

@riggs……i swear, thats what i thought!

  • holiday

Let me stick up for Chicago, here in Utah for about 6 seasons I believe Boozer seemed great in the regular season…. when he played, but he seemingly is always injured. And he basically disappears in the playoffs…. you see the rest of the team hustle and he just yells like an idiot “get in there” or “give me that shit” ect.he deserves all the hate!!!

  • AD

nah dnt boo carlos noozer boo THE MPV’S PASSING SKILLS….

Why stop when he deserves it.

The reason Boozer is playing so poorly is because he has a very low ratio of fast-twitch to low-twitch muscle fibers. This is very unusual for an African-american.

I can understand where the fans are coming from. Boozer is making more this year than Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Kyle Korver combined.
He puts in no effort defensively. Last night one play in particular made me mad. Boozer turned his back on his man, Smith. Smith got the ball under the basket. Boozer turned around, and had ample time to foul Smith or at least make some kind of attempt at the ball. Instead, he chose to yell. “EYYYY!” is not gonna stop Josh Smith from dunking the ball. And Boozer was close enough to wrap him up and send him to the line. It’s maddening.
He’s injured A LOT. I’ve never had turf toe, I can’t say how painful it is. But I do know Rose has been playing through turf toe for like the last two seasons. It don’t bother him none. I know Rose is tough as hell, but come on now.
There’s a lot of other things I could list. But the fans need to know also that when Boozer is on his game, dude is sold.

  • mj23

i understand bosh being soft but boozer is about 270 pounds go to the low post dont shot the jumper and hustle if he cant play defens he needs to try even harder and not think:ok i cant play d so lets give up on it he is gona score LOL STEP IT UP

  • Dru

Im a knick fan and amare dont even average 10 rebounds.. Booz getting them while he hurt…. As lng as taj and noah doin they part booz is good…. Chicago is killing on the boards and boozer can account for 10 or 11 of them… Just imagine how knickfans feel when amare doesnt get his 26 points and over…

  • Dru

And why is chi town fans mad… U mean to tell me yall never watched a utah jazz playoff game….. This is nothing new…. This goes back to his cleveland games with lebron james.. Notice at the end of his contract all teams have let him walk… Chi fans cut this surprised bull sh7t out… This is boozers resume… Team just need him too help them get to the playoffs..after that u fu(ked

  • jaggi

ha ha ha. As a long time Utah Jazz fan, all I can say is…..We told you so. Thanks for taking him off our hands for us. New team, same old booz. At least you don’t have to worry about him getting dominated by Gasol and Bynum every year in the playoffs. His Matador defense is patented booz. And get used to his phantom injuries. I can only remember one game in the playoffs when he was dominant, and it was only after Chuck called him out on national TV the night before. Enjoy.

  • giogolo

wtf is it about fast-twitch ad low-twitch muscle efffibers..?

  • giogolo

    ouch @ dru ang jaggi..but u got a point.
