Kevin Garnett: Celtics ‘All In’ For Game 3

by Ryne Nelson

We’ve already witnessed the Lakers fall to an almost insurmountable 0-3 deficit against the Dallas Mavericks. The Boston Celtics also face the same fate tonight if they fall short to the Heat for the third straight time.

This is new ground for KG, as his Celtics have not fallen behind 0-2 in the Playoffs since he and Ray Allen signed to play in Beantown during the summer of 2007.

This likely being Celtics’ last stand, Paul Flannery of WEEI.com piqued Garnett’s always entertaining brain for his attitude going into Game 3:

“The urgency is there,” Garnett said on Friday before the team took the practice floor. “This is it. We’ve used all of our lifelines. This is it. I hate to say it like that, but it’s true. There’s not a: Cool, keep your composure. Nah, this is: You’ve got to get the next game.”

He continued, “We’re taking their best shot. I still don’t think we’ve played our best basketball, and we’ve got to do that. We can’t just come out here and talk about it. We’re not on the white sands of the beach [any] more. We’re back in the jungle. Hopefully that’ll do some good for us. We’ll figure it out. I told you man, we’re all in. I’ve got two pocket kings and I’m all in. Let’s do it.”

Whether KG’s “pocket kings” can stand a chance against The King and his right-hand man, Agent D3, we’ll have to wait and see.

If the Celtics win, they have a 40% chance of winning the series. If they lose, they have a zero percent chance. My opinion.

Either way Miami are gonna take 1 game in Boston.

  • http://nba.com gp23

    Heat will sweep

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

If KG was still down with adidas, I could see a commercial in the works!
“KG is all in. adidas is all in”.

  • kunal

I don’t believe miami will get a sweep. I’m sticking to my prediction of them closing it in 6. The Boston old guard are mentally stronger than LA. Expect them to win the 1st home game but I don’t think they can sustain it. To all you out there don’t get excited we have a series.

I think you mean… Agent D3 and HIS right-hand man the King. Wade has been the better player this series.

  • MUBWAR

sure omphalos. Anyways id rather take a chance with the heat’s aces(D3 and the King). PP is probably gonna bring a wheelchair and KG will punch Bosh in the nuts with frustration. Series ends in Boston

  • Heals

Just crazy the difference between 3-0 and 2-1; either you planning for vacation or right back in it…

Well they just realized they all in it’s the freaking playoffs

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Shaq won’t matter…the celtics will go down 3-0

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

^ The Heat are not winning in Beantown. BOOK IT!

  • flipnoyce

I still want that same ref that officiated in game one!!! Boston should be able to pull this off at home, maybe even tie the series at 2 a piece. The LAST 7 MINUTES was the crucial time when refs were calling the shots in both games. No Easy Basket, used every hard foul KG n company. I can’t hate on the HEAT they are as good as they come. We’ll see if the OLD LIONS can still rule the jungle though. I’d like to see Pierce use that wheel chair to smash that ref who got him ejected.

I’m a C’s fan, so my heart still believes, but my head says 1-4 Heat
    and Danny Ainge, why? WHY???

  • $tev3

since Rigo brought it up why did Kg even leave adidas in the first place?

  • larrylegend

    CELTIC PRIDE!!!!

  • Omphalos meant

“D-Wade has been the better player FOR THEIR ENTIRE CAREERS (while healthy* )

Shaq can help the team, even if all he does is clog the middle and force Miami into jumpshots; hopefully Z does not draw him 15 feet away from the basket all night.

The Celts still have a chance to win the series; they have the next two games at home and Miami is fully capable of 35% shooting night or a meltdown. I hope this series goes to game 7; it will feel like the NBA Finals.

hope KG goes out swinging, literally.

Rondo is playing really admirably with one arm, much respect to him.And KG is playing like it’s 05 again.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

    *scratch that,KG is playing like it’s ’01

  • http://Www.fiba.com Darksaber

Mission accomplished: KG just played like it was 2000. Fantastic game by the big ticket.
Btw, Wade hooke Rondo while they were tangled and fell. I like D, but that was uncalled for.
    RONDOOOOO.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics Byebye

Bosh is sooooooo f-n soft kg killed that girl I’m sick of him even if they win the ship this year they need to trade him for d Howard an let Anthony play power forward

  • flipnoyce

What do you know The Old Lions still have it. Like I said early on the C’s have a chance to even up this series. Sternbots played a major part on those two wins at Miami. There was no way the C’s was supposed to lose both of those Heat home games. Big Ups to RONDO for playing with one hand and KG for exposing the Heat down low!!!! One more win and we’re back on business boyyyy!

  • http://slamonline.com big_ticket

kg is all in..my main man backing up his words

  • Yesse

Well, you certainly could see that from looking at KG’s game.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

So, “The King” was awful last night….

  • Harlem_World

Rondo and the celtics are all heart. Miami are more athletic. Celtics are the older, wiser brother. Miami are the ‘young buck-just reached full manhood-I need to prove I belong’ younger brother. So far Miami have been the dirtier of the two. D Wade is playing to win with a nasty streak in him we haven’t really seen before. If anyone didn’t know Chris Bosh bled once per month, take a look at game 3. Expect Wade and Lebron to go OFF in game 4. Celtics may be too beaten up to stop them. But…never underestimate the heart of a champion. If KG can sustain this level of play, PP and Ray join the party and turn back the clock to 2004 – then this could be epic. That is all.

  • Clydesays

Good god. Rondo?! WTF. I could barely watch that injury going down. To see him use that arm to poke the ball away from Bosh minutes later was crazy
. Hope he’s able to play the rest of the series.
KG delivered big time. C’s have got to keep getting him the ball in the post. Nice win, Celts. Now get 3 more.

co-sign All-Ball. …And people called me crazy when I said the Celtics would still win the series.
