Kobe ‘Surprised’ by Lakers’ Choice of Mike Brown

Sports Illustrated reports that Kobe was a supporter of Brian Shaw and was surprised that he wasn’t involved in selecting Phil Jackson’s successor: “The source close to the Lakers told SI.com that Lakers star Kobe Bryant was “surprised” by the news, and that he was not a part of the decision-making process. Bryant had been a staunch supporter of Lakers assistant Brian Shaw for the position and remains as such.”

I agree w/ Frank Williams that the selection is over and done with but Jim Buss could have interviewed more candidates instead of just one. It’ll be interesting what kind of offense will be implemented. Don’t count on the triangle continuing. Phil Jackson and Jim Buss never got along. Once Phil retired, Jim started to remove anything associated to Phil. This was the reason Brian Shaw was even considered for the coaching position. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of Phil’s coaches weren’t coming back and Mike Brown brings in his own crew. Let’s see what Brown can do but don’t waste our time trying to figure it out along the way.
