Mario Chalmers: Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics Wearing Down

Everyone that’s watching the series can see it, but it’s something Mario Chalmers’ Heat teammates and coaches haven’t allowed themselves to publicly voice, but he has no qualms doing it on their behalf: KG and the C’s look old, slow and defeated out there (especially late in games.) From the Boston Globe: “The Celtics appear to be blurring the line between being experienced and being old. The Heat just want to keep running. After two games of this second-round series, Miami guard Mario Chalmers said he is seeing fatigue in the opposition. Citing Kevin Garnett in particular, Chalmers said, ‘His face during the duration of the game gets longer and longer, so we just want to keep running on them. We know they’re an old veteran team, and our young legs, we want to use them to our advantage.’ Coming off a 102-91 victory in Game 2 Tuesday, the Heat were given yesterday off and will practice this morning. They are being careful not to get too confident as the series shifts to Boston this weekend. ‘It is a long series,’ said LeBron James. ‘I am not getting too high. I am not getting too low. This is what we wanted to do. We wanted to win the first two games. We are looking forward to going to Boston.’ The series kicked off with a physical, defensive matchup in Game 1 (a 99-90 win for the Heat), and Game 2 was close until Miami went on a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter. ‘I think when it comes to the fourth quarter, we have an extra push,’ Chalmers said. The Heat have made speed and athleticism as much a part of their style as bruising defense, and the Celtics look to be feeling the effects.”

if i were one of his teammates, i’d tell him to shut his mouth.

STFU Mario….you half-witted Alaskan jackass!!! Shoutout to the homie, Rigo Speedy Enigmatic Gonzalez.

Don’t have a problem at all with what he said. He is just stating the obvious, the Heat are a younger team and seem to have more energy late in the games. I do have a problem though w/ how Slam titled the article. I clicked on the headline expecting to hear Chalmers put his foot in his mouth ala Andrew Bynum (trust issues), but what I read was a benign comment…

not so smart, dont motivate them any more then they already are! hope miami takes one game on the road :)

noooooooooooooo marioooooo don’t motivate them….. SHUT UPPPPPPPPP

Didn’t anyone in that lockerroom tell Mario to keep it about them and not Boston? Stupid kid. I question his I.Q., seriously. I’m glad he’s confident, but dammit he should know better than to wake an old grizzly before he’s finished his hibernation.

I fully expect Dontae to punch him dead in his sh*t and be suspended for a game, knock Mario out for the series and save Heat fan’s the headache of watching his inconsistent a*s.

In other news, Chalmers also enjoys waiting to pull his parachute while skydiving, using “no hands” after 7 seconds of riding a bull, and walking really close to the edge of cliffs to see “how strong they are.”

Yes, because THIS is what’ll give the C’s motivation. Not being down 0-2 against a team they thought they could dominate. Not the fact that they’re getting very little production from their main scorer. Not the fact that their normally stingy defense is being exploited worse than a 3rd world factory worker. Nope, the words of a second round draft pick who probably couldn’t spell consistency.*rolling eyes* Let’s not overstate the importance of this quote

FUEL THE FIRE! shoutout to the homie Whit Ehot

  • bull22

@cheryl, yep that was not very smart.. all of this talking before a series is even over.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Kid’s got balls but it’s always best to let the team leaders do that sort of talking.
Unless he’s gonna come out and average 20 the rest of the series…
I love my sweet home Chicago, but since they say it ain’t where ya from it’s where ya at, I’ll end this with “AK stand up”!

for one your names mario, and two your not fitter than our team your just quicker.

  • tom

well, he´s not running a lot with his young legs. ray allen would be running more than he does on the current heat team, so thats really annoying coming out of his mouth.
besides i think miami will come through but the celts will fight back and play better at home. still miami´s too much to handle.

like kenny smith said “We seen the last of JOE LEWIS ” chalmers is speaking da truth…… plus boston was motivated when they lost in game 7 to “Mike Tyson” Lol

  • hagekg

somehow he is wrong for this, but judging on his performance so far in the playoffs i guess he has a lil right to say about it .

  • smoove

ok even tho some of what he say holds truth, WHOTF IS HE??? if lebron said it id reluctanctly accept, but chalmers needs to keep future HOF name out his mouth

  • T-Money

“extra motivation” is an overblown concept. its the playoffs, everybody wants it bad. being angry doesn’t make you better and iy certainly doesnt make you more precise or accurate.
