Miami Heat Looking to Finish Off the Boston Celtics

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

With each passing day in these NBA Playoffs, it becomes clearer and clearer that the old guard is giving way to a younger, hungrier group of teams and stars.

The Boston Celtics are one of the last of the older squads, and the Miami Heat have an opportunity to end their era for good tonight.

Despite the Celtics’ struggles all series long — and the shortcomings of its biggest stars in key moments — the Heat know that tonight’s game represents an opportunity they can ill afford to let pass them by.

From the Sun-Sentinel:

“We have to finish it,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Tuesday afternoon. “That’s what today was about: not relaxing, not exhaling.”

Smart move by Spo to call a rare practice the day after a road win. What better way to refocus the group and drive home the message that cannot be missed now. No time to strut. No time to rest. No time to look back with satisfaction at how this 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals was built. No time to luxuriate in the Heat’s first win at Boston in four-plus years (and 12 games). No time for Chris Bosh’s primal overtime scream to echo for another few days.

“You don’t have time to feel good,” [Chris] Bosh said. “You sit back and think about it for a second. Then you snap back to reality and know that to eliminate them, that’s going to be the hardest game we’ve ever played.”

It’s unlikely that Boston will go down quietly; they’re a proud, veteran team with something left in the tank.

Tonight will help determine if the Celtics have enough left to withstand the Heat’s furious, desperate push, and further delay the inevitable future of the NBA.

D Wade, C Bosh & LBJ can not afford to play another game against Boston in this year. finish them off once and for all. Send them fishing…..Now!

  • Eliezer Pross

It will be a tough game, Boston are old but proven and true warriors…But the inevitable will happen, the younger and hungrier will rise to take their rightful place…

  • Kid Dynamite

Eddie House should get decent minutes in this one so he can bring the rain. Give them a major beating…..

    I don’t see the C’s winning tonight.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Max

Tonight’s winner will be decided by wich KG comes out to play; the agressive one or the Boshy one.
Most of the time he’s playing like a Bosh..

It will take alot more than game 4 to put away a champion. With that said, there is no other way than to trade blood-and-gut with glory (just ask our Navy Seal).

Ronda tried to do too much likes a kid wanted to “control” his toys – no way Jose!

His weakness today? the left arm elbow! career ending injury? you bet!

South Florida, the retirement capital of the US, would be the perfect place for the Celtics to end their season.

There will be a winner… And they will wear nikes/Jordans!

i dont see celtics winning in miami. but if they do, i see this series going 7 games but heat still winning. thats too bad about rondo,if i was wade i’d feel cheated about winning this series. but thats just me

One day of rest for Boston means a loss.

Cosign Max. It looks like the Bosh/Garnett match up will decide the winner yet again.

At the end of these battles “one shall rise n one shall fall.” I give Miami a lot of credit for bringing it to Boston. I give Boston a lot of respect for going the distance further than the Lakers, meaning NOT SWEPT! As I recall saying earlier this year the only way Boston is going to lose is if INJURIES were a factor! I’m not making any excuses but it is what it is, Apparently! As the saying goes “It’s not over until the fat lady sings.”

@Clay unless both Bosh and Garnett play like game one and neither of them matter. I bet my roommate that Boston would take it in 7 before this series started. Tonight will tell how stupid I am.

  • OvaChicken

Go Heat. Finish your lunch now.

  • Kourtney

If Heat don’t win tonights game then they will win the next one. There’s no way Boston is coming back and winning this series. Heat is a team made for the playoffs and i can see them going all the way. Heat will win tonight because they have home court advantage and all the momentum is with them right now

  • JTaylor21

    It’s lunchtime!!!

  • http://klatschendom.wordpress.com/ Speedy

    Boston will fight.
    That’s the least I’m awaiting.

The difference between games 2 and 4 (Miami wins) and game 3 (C’s win) is the amount of rest. With only one day of rest, it’s hard seeing how Boston is going to put up another game 3 performance.

  • flipnoyce

I really despise these officials that always putting the Heat on the charity line!!!! Every shot attempt to the basket they get a free throws, Hate Sternbots argghhhhh!
