MRI Negative on Rajon Rondo’s Dislocated Elbow

Rondo should be ready to go and resume his heroics in tonight’s Game 4, after an MRI revealed no breaks in his left elbow. From the Boston Herald: “The Celtics may have dodged a deadly bullet [Sunday] with the news that Rajon Rondo did not suffer a break in his left elbow. An MRI taken on the joint came back negative late this afternoon, meaning that the point guard has suffered nothing worse than a dislocation, which was popped back into place prior to his return for the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ Game 3 win over Miami … Rondo’s injury occurred during the third quarter when he tangled with Heat guard Dwyane Wade. Wade was called for a foul on the play, in which Rondo tried to break his fall by landing on his left hand. The result was a nasty bend in the elbow that caused national TV viewers to cringe. Typically the model of calm and cool, Wade curtly dismissed a question about the play during the Heat’s practice this afternoon at Emerson College. ‘I’m not answering no questions about that,’ he said. ‘I’m done with that.’ Wade also dismissed a follow-up question regarding his concern with the Celtics seeking retribution. C’s coach Doc Rivers said after the game that he had to prevent his players from retaliating.”

carlos loser should be watched “rondo’s big heart match”

  • iceman

even I dont like him, he’s a big player

  • Zabba

Eh, Perkins is gone. If a brawl broke out Lebron would’ve taken down half the Celtics team…with his penis.

  • RobbieJay

hahahaha @zabba, but seriously, FORCE RONDO LEFT !

  • Riggs

dwyane wade is gonna suffer a little “accident” game 4

  • hendry

@zabba look at the video when john wall was ready to fight big z. lebron is no where near them, not even trying to break em up. if a brawl took place, lebron would probably the first one to run away to the locker room.

  • kunal

Duh the MRI shows no damage!
What a dumb report. Most joint dislocations don’t have bony injuries but Rondo is still gonna be hurting with the incident and most likely will not have full use of his arm for the next 2 weeks.
Bsids dislocation can happen with trivial impact which we did witness during the play. Hence stop asking dwade dumb questions. Those reporters are surely clueless, they don’t know how to play or the science of the injury.

This is why I hate the new NBA. The first hard foul tonight will result in a surefire flagrant, and that will cause everyone to tone it down. This is the playoffs, where raw emotion and team loyalty are paramount, and Stern is playing Bob Barker to the player’s ASPCA. In other words, “make sure your pets are spayed and neutered, thank you.”.

  • Jer dawg

Inject Rondo with HGH. It will help with recovery. Just see baseball in the late 90s and early 2000s.

    Thespian.

it wasnt even a nasty foul and people are overreacting!

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

It was a nasty foul, he didn’t clobber him, but grabbing someone and then falling down on him just to prevent him going for a loose ball… that’s filthy. I’m losing more respect for Wade by the day, I thought Lebron was the a-hole, I guess it’s rubbing off.

  • brendino

The fact that some people think it was a dirty foul proves that Stern is succeeding in changing how basketball is being percieved by fans. Soon the soft type of basketball will be the only type most people prefer. Stern is ruining the league man.

Plus, who in their right minds would fine the Greatest coach of all time during his last days in the league after he’s given so much to the NBA!? Classy.

  • Mike From Spain

@ brendino: if you have no chance whatsoever to play the ball, grab someone’s arm, then wrestle him to the ground and dislocate his elbow in the process… I think that’s a dirty foul. I don’t know WTF are you talking about, I’d rather get a punch in the face while driving to the basket than what Rondo got in that play

  • Airnest

Shaq needs to lay out that punk Wade.

  • Brothamn

It was a hard foul, but how the hell could Wade have known Rondo would land in that exact position and dislocate his elbow? C’mon people. Props to Rajon for coming back and playing well though

  • Riggs

because youre not suppose to pull a player down while falling, because ANYTHING can heppen.

  • Riggs

    happen*

  • Layzie

It wasnt that dirty..it was jus a frustrated foul…get over it people! I still respect wade as a great player.

  • Airnest

co-sign Riggs. dumb and dirty fouls by Wade, Odom and Bynum.

  • 1982

I know out of the dirty playoff fouls this year, Wade’s seemed the most unintentional, and thus defensible. But it’s not like he tried to nudge him, he pulled him down. It could’ve been a lot worse… You might as well say well how was Bynum supposed to know that an elbow to the ribcage of someone half his size was going to send him crashing to the floor in pain?

  • http://theurbangriot.com The NUPE

If Rondo didn’t get hurt, then this foul woldn’t have gotten too much attention. You could have even argued it was a ‘smart’ intentional foul to stop Rondo from getting to the ball. The fact that Rondo got hurt and the injury will very likely have a huge impact on the rest of the series is what makes the foul seem so ‘dirty’, ‘nasty’ or whatever you want to call it. Bynum and Odom’s fouls were just malicious and they should both be fined and suspended. But this Wade foul was just a foul with an unfortunenate result.

  • paul

Unintentional? Did you not see the way Wade backed hard into Rondo (no, that’s not blocking out), pushed him off balance, and then grabbed him and did a leg sweep as he fell, driving Rondo into the floor?

If you don’t call that dirty, you are a WWF fan, not a basketball fan.

  • paul

Put differently, that was a martial arts quality take down. It was no accident.

this could be the spark the celtics needed to push themover the hump andtake control again, that dominance that scared the heat all year long. cuz KG,Shaq, JO, PP and Ray take care of theirs. hence that group huddles to protect every time the heat like wade try and step over rondo after a play or shit like that

  • Meloboyrush

Dwyane Wade has become really really really cocky and irritating. okay hes got mad skills but his attitude sucks big time. Lebrons s**t is rubbing on him too….and @ Zabba ( dude in the start of the post ). Lebrons penis is non existent! Delontes penis will kill Lebron! why?! half of the world knows why! and dont forget that the C’s got Glen ‘ Ill smash your face’ Davis.

  • http://www.google.com Meloboyrush

Dwade has lost his charm! hes become a punk like Bron…and for the dude who thinks Brons penis can take down half of Celtics…well, The Celtics got Delonte West’s penis!

END OF STORY. LEBRON RUNS AWAY AND HIDES BEHIND HIS MOM.

  • Meloboyrush

Delontes PEN!S WILL KILL THE WHOLE CITY OF CLEVELAND AND MIAMI TOGETHER!

    SO BACK OF BRON!

  • http://klatschendom.wordpress.com/ Speedy

    Stop the penis talk! Please.
And to DWade. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Don’t get mad if somebody fouls you hard and doesn’t even show the slightest sorrow.

  • flipnoyce

I hope RONDO could still dominate with one arm, though very unlikely. Him coming back in the game was very inspirational to the fans, DOC and most importantly his teammates. As a proud Celtic fan I know the C’s are going to try their best to win tonights game to even up the series. One more silly foul like that from Miami and I’m pretty sure it will result to an injury to one of their own.

  • http://klatschendom.wordpress.com/ Speedy

    @ brendino
I want to see you walk away after somebody did this to you.
You just showed that you don’t think.

  • http://slamonline Brion

I just became less intelligent after reading the above posts.

  • JTaylor21

Can we get a moment of silence for all the pauses needed for those highly suspect comments?

  • hillbilly

(reporter):”Rajon, I trust that “scratch” hasn’t made you usesless?” (Rondo): “Hardly, my lord. It’s just an arm. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare.” (reporter): “What? A “spare”?!?! This is blasphemy! This is madness!” (Rondo): “Madness? No. This…is…RONNNNN-DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!”

  • http://Slamonline.com Datkid

Do you guys really think wade meant to break rondo’s arm? Like seriouslly? They were tangled up together..wade fell=rondo fell…totally unintentional. End of story.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics Byebye

What about big baby trying to lay on chalmers ankle in game 2

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

Spoelstra was caught up in the moment again.
