The two men responsible for putting together the impressive rosters in both Miami and Chicago were honored today. From the Chicago Tribune: “Gar Forman and Pat Riley named co-executives of the year by their peers.”

    What did Pat Riley do?

  • http://slamonline.com Yknot

You mean DWade wins executive of the year?

  • Flight

No offense to Gar Forman but how does Pat Riley not run away with the award after that crazy off season? Even though the bulls locked the one seed I’d still think Pat was a clear cut winner.

flight – it shouldn’t be about which free agents you land, its about the output.

    The “Mike Miller” effect.

Word? I knew Rily had won but didn’t know Foreman had as well.
    Dope.
Flight – Riley had it easy compared to Foreman. James, Wade and Bosh decided to play together, whether it was before or during the offseason, it was their choice, and after that all Riley had to do was sign a couple more players that had a pulse.
Foreman was forced to put together a squad after gutting the team in hopes that LeBron, Wade, Bosh would ink with them.
Every move he made was done with the makeup of the team, and the type of players Thibs wanted in mind.

    Post up player: check
    3 pt shooter: check
    Pesky wing defenders: check
    Veteran presence: check
    capable backup PG: check

The Bulls courted Wade, James and Bosh. The Heat landed them. So the Bulls get more votes in Executive of the Year voting. How? 24 minutes ago

Jealous?” I normally disagree with this guy….but…uhm….we’re all laughing at the rest of the you.

If Forman can sign JR Smith or Jamal Crawford or another dope 2 guard in the offseason, I think we’re set for a championship run for the next decade.
Especially if sometime during those ten years we can somehow replace Boozer with another PF who plays over 70 games a year and defends.

The Bulls courted Wade, James and Bosh.
    The Heat landed them.
The Bulls went on to win more games than the Heat in the regular season.
So while the Heat might have the last laugh, I think the Bulls did OK.

i think it’d be cool if jamal came back.
if taj could get in the weight room and work on his post up game, we’ll be straight

Congrats to Gar. I don’t expect the Bulls 2 win it all this yr, but w/all the awards, it almost seems like they have 2. I can already c people calling the Bulls season a dissapointment if they don’t win the title this yr. But is all good

Executive of the Year. Coach of the Year. MVP. Best Record in the League. Pretty Hollywood over there if you ask me. Better win it all, or yes, it was a complete failure. The Heat have none of those titles (well except Riles co-share) to live up to. Get it!

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

    E, best beleive this sh*t is a double-edged sword.
It’s nice to have the MVP, COY and co-EOY, plus a second-team all defense guy in Noah.
At the same time though, the Bulls are young.
We’ll see how they do, but a part of me is thinking all these accolades are too much, too soon.
And Miami is still Hollywood as f*ck down there.

bulls didn’t have these expectations though, so they’ve exceeded them already. this season is almost a success, if the get to the ECF it will be.
any thing other than that is gravy.

    Word, airs.
The fact of the matter is, many people weren’t expecting Chicago to end up with anything higher than the fourth seed.
Hell, some national writers believed Milwaukee would win the Central Division.
Everyone thought the Magic, Celtics, Heat, Lakers, Mavs, Thunder, Spurs, and even Hawks would embarass the Bulls, but the Bulls either won or tied the season series with all of them.
So them doing this well in the first year of the Thibs era, with their starting lineup out for huge strecthes of the season and two non-shooting shooting guards?

    The future looks bright.

Damn, no love for Otis smith? LOL

No one on the Heat scored more than 4 points outside of the Big 3. Pat Riley did not assemble a team, he got 2 megastars and 1 superstar in their prime, which had more to do with the 3 of them choosing Miami then Miami choosing the 3 of them.

  • bull22

glad gar forman got some love, giving pat riley half credit for the the wade, james and bosh is fitting…. because look at the rest of their team, lol…

  • jose

Bulls did alot with many new pieces and coaching staff so i mean they deserve the mention, but i still don’t know how Riles wasnt unanimous

  • Joc
