Report: Lakers Interested In Mike Brown

The Lakers have added former Cavs’ coach Mike Brown to their list of head coach candidates, although it looks most likely Brown will end up on the Warriors’ sidelines: “The Los Angeles Lakers are taking a deliberate approach to their search for a successor to Phil Jackson, but NBA coaching sources told ESPN.com the team has added Mike Brown to its list of candidates. The former Cleveland Cavaliers coach, now working as an analyst for ESPN, is expected to interview ‘soon’ with the Lakers, sources say. Brown would become the fourth known candidate for the job, along with former Houston Rockets coach Rick Adelman, ex-Los Angeles Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy and Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw, who is regarded as the only serious in-house contender to replace Jackson.”

Anyone notice that thing that Mike Brown does when he’s making a point. He snares his teeth back like a wolf does. Funniest thing!

………hahahahaahaha, why don’t you guys just say you want Kobe to run this team already

Great defensive coach, but he lacks any creativity in his offensive sets.

As a Miami Heat fan i wholeheartedly endorse this.

That would be the ending of the Lake Show..

Lakers can go on with the triangle with Shaw while they up their D with Brown. either that or adapt to a whole new system after more than a decade with Adelman. Even that looks quite unsure.

Brian Shaw! Open and shut! What the hell is Kupchak thinking with this nonsense?

So, did people forget Mike Brown’s the worst coach ever, or…?

  • http://nba.com Pete

a coach of the year can’t be the worst coach ever.
or am i getting it wrong?

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

Pete has a point, but so does Jukai. All I know is that the only reason he had such “success” coaching the Cavs is simply because of LeBron. Nothing more, nothing less.

i don’t like mike but he is a great defensive coach

    what about jerry freaking sloan!?
lakers are goin down the hill quiqly howard will not join them beacouse he know kobe is a ball hog

Sloan’s retired and he’s not a Hollywood kinda man. Probably would kill him to be out in LA. But seriously, the headline is pretty misleading I mean it makes him sound like he is the only interest, while he hasn’t even interviewed yet. Either way I hope they get Shaw to be the coach and Brown like BossTerry said to be the defensive coordinator as sorts.

You know, what’s this great defensive coach nonsense? He had a great defensive scheme, and in practice, he was able to get his players to buy into it and run it. I’d define a great defense “coach” as someone who can make good in-game defensive adjustments, and realize matchup issues in the playoffs BEFORE the elimination game. As an assistant coach, I feel Mike Brown would be invaluable. As a head coach, I feel Mike Brown may be the worst thing a team could do for itself.

Mike Brown can coach a team with a superstar to a good position to be in the playoffs but as I recall he never drew up any plays. Ever.

Jerry Sloan is Clint Eastwood… big respect.

  • gregor

    Please no.

Is Mike Woodson still available? If so, Lakers should go all-in with Woody.

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

The available coaches this year are more horrendous than this year’s draft.

  • BostonBaller

Did someone say McHale? I love my man but you know he would destroy the Lakers from within then trade Kobe to Boston for a cheerleader and some Lobsters. lol
