Shelvin Mack Going With Draft Over Butler

Butler junior Shelvin Mack led the Bulldogs on a spectacular run to the NCAA Finals last month, and now he’ll (officially) test the Draft waters with hopes of becoming a first round pick. Via Yahoo!: ”After leading Butler University to consecutive Final Fours, junior guard Shelvin Mack has decided to stay in the 2011 NBA Draft, a source with knowledge of the decision told Yahoo! Sports. Mack started to inform people of his choice on Saturday and is expected to hold a news conference with his college coach, Brad Stevens, on Tuesday in Indianapolis. The deadline for underclassmen to stay in the draft or return to college is Sunday. Front office executives and scouts project Mack as a late first-round to early second-round pick. Mack has set up a final round of meetings with three agents – Octagon, Doug Neustadt and Andy Miller – to meet with his family in Louisville in the near future. In his final season at Butler, Mack averaged 16 points and 40 percent shooting for Butler.”

    Good luck Shelvin

He’s got a good chance of going first round because of all the would-be lottery picks going back to school, which will make the mid-to-late first rounders into lottery picks, and the second-rounders, like Mack, into late first rounders.
