TNT Moving Charles Barkley, Crew Indoors for Game 4

In an effort to protect Sir Charles and his co-workers from the suddenly-frisky Miami Heat fans, TNT is moving its show inside the Heat’s gym and away from any potential danger. Charles Barkley and his two middle-fingers, though, remain unfazed. The Sun-Sentinel reports: “With TNT’s studio crew broadcasting outside the arena following the Heat’s 96-85 victory over the Chicago Bulls in Game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals, Barkley became the focus of intense jeering and other acts of derision in the wake of his recent criticism of the Heat. Because of that, a Turner Sports official Monday told the Sun Sentinel that the TNT studio show will originate all of its programming from inside AmericanAirlines Arena for Tuesday’s Game 4. Having called the Heat a ‘whiny bunch’ earlier in this best-of-seven series, which the Heat now lead 2-1, Barkley playfully responded to Sunday’s chants at one point with a middle-finger salute from each raised hand. A fan then threw what appeared to be a towel at the Hall of Fame forward while he was on the temporary set of TNT’s popular studio program … ‘We appreciate the tremendous enthusiasm of the fans and all that they bring to our live coverage. As we continue with our coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals, we are evaluating the best options for presenting our studio show live from Miami.’ … ‘We are going to go inside,’ a network representative said, citing the logistical difficulties of such an open-air broadcast. Barkley, speaking on WQAM Monday afternoon, appeared to welcome the confrontational approach. ‘You know those people can yell and scream but they don’t have the hair on their (butt) to grab me,’ he said. ‘They don’t have enough hair on their (butts) to walk up to me man to man and say, ‘Let’s do this.’ All that yelling and screaming just makes me laugh, man.’ Barkley found Sunday’s scene amusing. ‘They were telling me I suck,’ he said. ‘They were telling me I never won a championship. Like, ‘Come on, give me something better than that, dude.’ I always laugh at that statement, ‘You didn’t get a ring. ‘I’m like, dude, you work at McDonald’s. My life’s a lot better than yours. You relax.’”

If you’re scared, say you’re scared. Dish it out but you can’t take it, huh Chuckles?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Angel of Stern

I always laugh at that statement, ‘You didn’t get a ring. ‘I’m like, dude, you work at McDonald’s. My life’s a lot better than yours. You relax.’” This line is pretty funny from chuck, gotta admit that…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I find it extremely ignorant from Charles’ dumb a*s. Most people that work at McDonalds could hardly afford to attend a Heat playoff game with the astronomical cost of tickets. A pretty fair percentage of fans at a high profile basketball game make a great living. He’s too grounded in his own world of fat and food to realize this. He’s a jacka*s to the nth degree and for years has embarrassed himself and anyone related to him through his always wrong mouth. But he is funny, because he’s so dumb.

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

Game 4 by the way. And I don’t necessarily agree with what Charles did, but it all seemed to be in fun, given the way the fans were cheering after he flipped them off. Great ending quote by Chuck too.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick Tha Quick

While I don’t think what Chuck was the best thing, we act like Chuck should say, “You know what? I suck. I never won a championship. You dumb Heat fans are right?” Eboy can be critical of what Chuck said, especially in defense of the Heat, but who wouldn’t look to deride the people talking ish about them. Hell even Bosh had something to say to Gibson last game. Shouldn’t he turn the other cheek too?

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 DFrance21

Eboy, just say you hate Chuck and call it a day. I’m sure if Wade was walking through the airport in Chicago and flipped off a bunch of fans chanting cuss words at him, you’d call them a group of classless losers rather than saying Wade should just turn the other cheek.

  • http://www.gil1906.com Pve84

Wait, Charles Barkley shouldn’t be concerned a mob of angry heat fans? It would also seem that Charles Barkley is paid to say stuff just like this because his comments, regardless of how “stupid” they may seem, are 80% of the reason why people watch TNTs pre-game, half-time, and post-game show.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Catering to idiots is what Charles does. It’s the other 20% who realize he’s a fuc*ing dolt. Remember when Bron dealt with a disrespectful fan in Detroit this season? Talking sh*t about him and his family? Notice the route he took? No threats of violence, no obscene gestures, no homophobic slurs. “Keep it about disrespecting me, and it’s good”. What a concept. Say what you want, but the dude (Charles) is a classless individual. He’s been that way since he spit on a little girl when he went into the stands 20 years ago searching out another “disrespectful” fan. I know, let’s have 20,000 fans sit quietly like a golf or tennis match so these little heart feeling b*tches can’t complain about it.

    Classic Chuck! Hilarious. Haha!

  • Kid Viscious

HAHAHAHAHA lmao chuck is officially my n**ga…well that n**ga! lmao

  • http://www.slamonline.com Max

    Eboy is gettin pissed!!!
Also, Eboy they probably do work at McDonalds Chuck knows everybody who works there..

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Ahhh….I see what you did there! :)

  • Jamaal87

Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one. However, Eboy’s opinion is clearly a biased one.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

My cousin owns several McDonalds and he can probably live quite well through his employment. It was a stupid comment, but not surprising. He is who he is. I don’t listen to him for basketball analysis–Kenny and Chris handle that end of it. Chuck is entertaining and I don’t expect intellegence from him. Just make me laugh.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

So Chuck is the idiot because he said the Heat are whiney, which they are? I think everyone outside of Miami laughed when Wade came out with his famous “the world is a better place” crap. Chuck should just sit there and take it when fans throw stuff at him because he doesn’t like the Heat’s attitude? Chuck took the chanting fine. He gave the fans the finger and they laughed it off. They were looking for a reaction from him and they got it. You Heat fans are funny though. They’re super emotional and willing to attack Barkley for their team…just don’t ask them to come to the arena on time or sit in their seats and watch the game while they’re there. The only comment I think that’s dumb is Cheryl trying to compare Chuck and his multi millions to her cousin that “owns” multiple McDonalds

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Just like you’re 6’10″, 300 lbs, Diesel. It will be nice by the weekend when all you’ll have left is rooting for someone else’s team to beat the Heat in the Finals since your’s couldn’t do it themselves.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

I don’t really get what your response means. But you’re obviously obsessed with my size. Let me know if you want me to sign a 8×10 glossy for you. I guess if I were an old depressed man who had nothing going for him other than basketball, I’d be upset if the Bulls lost. But there’s only one of those on this site so I’ll be ok if the Bulls lose.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I’m not surprised you couldn’t locate the insult in my comment.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

And I’m not surprised that you couldn’t defend your actual comments on the subject and had to result to trying and discredit the Bulls. Somehow that makes your idiotic statement on Barkley true? As for you constantly exaggerating my size, I don’t get that one. Maybe because you’re old and shriveled you can’t fathom a man being bigger???…but then I should have figured that you have some inferiority complex by the fact that you’re a 40 year old guy , playing a made up character, and are super sensitive when someone says you can’t satisfy the woman in your life.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Huh? Maybe within the realm of you your made-up world you make sense to yourself, but to be honest, you’re a nothing….kind of certain you’re a nothing in life too. It’s all good though. You’ll always have your incredible athletic build to rely on to be a pro athlete making 10′s of millions of dollars as people like me laugh at your failed attempts of trying to be something you can never be…..relevant. I’ll shrivel up and leave you to your lipstick party at the Ramrod.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

my comment was to the classist comment about working at mcdonalds. no one, particlularly during these stressful economic times, should be deriding anyone on their employment. it is classless. besides, other than being good at shooting a f^kin orange pebbled ball into a cotton net 10 feet high, chuck would probably find himself working at mcdonalds himself. he’s not the brightest bulb in the box.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

    Stay classy, Heat fans…

  • http://www.egay.com eGirl

    eBoy sounds like a girl

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

Haha, thanks for being honest E. A 40 year old spending his life on a basketball website telling me I’m a nothing….that’s great stuff. Someone gets angry when you bring up their inferiority complex I see. If your wife being unsatisfied is that big of a problem, pay for my flight to Miami and we’ll see if this big athletic body can help.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Brother, you could always hop a flight to Miami and meet me first. I’ll send a car for you and everything. I’m not hard to find.

  • Hucklebuck

    Barkley is the man.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

Cheryl – Barkely is making fun of the fans like they’re making fun of him. Fans don’t have the freedom to scream hateful sh*t at someone and throw stuff at him just because they paid for a ticket. You see a problem with barkley making fun of working at McDonalds but you don’t see anything wrong with all the stuff the Heat fans are saying and doing? If they’re going to dish it out they need to be able to take it too.

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

I don’t think it was to protect Chuck. I don’t think rabid playoff fans would stoop to beating up the TNT crew on TV, it was to stop PR nightmares like the middle finger from going viral…And Cheryl, I don’t think he was referring to franchise owners, he was belittling the $7.50 an hour guy that works for, and probably hates, your cousin for being his boss.

  • MookieBlaylock

Im rooting for mia to win it all, but eboy’s annoying petty ass comments are just about enough to make me jump ship. No way E is 40 years old, dude talks like a pissed off teeny bopper.

  • Hucklebuck

all you people criticizing Barkley have nothing better to do? he would laugh at you guys getting all riled up for nothing.
let it go and just watch the games!

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

No joke Eboy, I’m seriously planning a trip to Miami before the end of the year and I’m half considering letting you know where’ I’ll be so we can meet up, you can take some measurements, and then we can have a drink together. On you of course because I’m broke and a nothing.

  • http://www.egay.com eGirl

lol @ eBoy wanting to fight people over the internet. certified lame-o

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I’ve got you. Let me know when you’re coming. I’ll meet you with a tape measure and then we can talk about our lives and what you and I do for a living. That’s the best time of the year to come here too, so you’re not totally a knucklehead.

  • Jehu

It’s obvious why TNT is moving the show inside. With all those loud, unruly fans it’s hard to have a decent show. I can understand them having a beef with Barkley, but when the chanting is interupting the flow of the show and people start throwing things, it’s time to move inside because that is ridiculous. If someone would have hit Ernie, Kenny or McHale on the set, would the question of being scared be an appropriate question. It’s shame that idiots have to ruin things so many times.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

thank you E and Diesel, this has been a good read. — and eGirl seems to be one of our regulars with a different name, i wonder which one…..

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Zoe Pound gonna put a hit out on Barkley…

  • Anton

Eboy is WAY dumber than Chuck

  • http://www.hoopsvibe.com/features/overdribbling chiqo

as we’ve seen here in the comments, insults and the back and forth between two parties who don’t care for each other don’t have to based in fact or make complete sense. it’s all about figuring out what you can do to discredit and/or hurt the other party. as long as no one does anything stupid or breaks the law, it’s all good. keep it in its proper perspective and have fun trying to prove your superiority. chuck seems to be cool with it, the fans should be cool with it, and moving the show inside allows for better security, more control over the environment, and a hopefully minimized chance of the thing getting out of control or tnt risking putting inappropriate language/behavior out over the airwaves.

  • robb

I love Chuck he’s funny as hell

  • http://www.angryarab.com Tariq

I don’t have a problem with the Heat fans getting on Chuck or with Chuck’s McDonald’s response. It’s all just good-natured trash talk. What I DO have a problem with is the chanting and jeering getting to the point of disrupting the show. Inside the NBA is one of my favorite shows, and that chanting ruined the last episode for me. Chant all you want before and after the show, as well as during commercial breaks. But don’t ruin the best sports show on TV for millions of viewers just because one too many Coors Lights make you think you’re the coldest or whatever.

P.S. For those of you that think Chuck doesn’t know anything about basketball, you must have him confused with Magic. Don’t forget that Chuck picked the Grizzlies to beat the Spurs (which was, granted, a trendy pick) and the Mavs to beat the Lakers. He’s not right all the time but he knows more than at least 90% of the analysts out there.

  • http://www.angryarab.com Tariq

Oh, and Chuck is funny. So are keyboard warriors.

  • floe

miami is douchebag central! the rest of the country knows that, now get on with the program eboy.

  • floe

    oh wait.. nevermind.

  • theDankerNuggets

“dude you work at Mcdonalds, my life’s already better than yours” hahahaha classic!

  • MikeC.

This thread certainly gave me something fun to read on my lunch break.

Chuck IS an idiot. He’s entertaining and all, but he’s a moron. A ringless moron who has no couth, yet has so much criticism of most of todays players. Chuck is that funny fat kid at school that isn’t particularly bright, but always says hilarious things. He’ll always be popular–I love watching him– but he’s an unitelligent millionaire. Textbook example of a dumb jock.

It’s nice to see Miami Heat fans finally showing up to their team’s games; what a joke of a fan base.

  • Warrior

    heat fans are immature.

I feel like chuck is kinda of a grown up version of Bart Simpson.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Is pointing out that Chuck never won a championship considered hateful?
Didn’t TNT do a whole bit about that with the “Champions room” where Chuck had to wait outside while Kenny and Magic went in?
Now the profanity and any personal insults are a bit much, and I was cool with Chuck flipping them off.
But, since he’s always chastising other athletes these days he probably should hold himself to a higher standard. And the McDonalds quote was tasteless.

Classic Chuck! Hilarious. Haha! If ur gonna dish it, man the f√¢k up and b willing 2 take it 2

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

    silly heat fans. smh

  • Jer dawg

There’s better things to vent about then trying to start a cyber forum fight. Trash talk is trash talk. Chuck sucks, Miami whines, ect… It’s opinions and some verbal jabs. Laugh it off and keep it hoops related. People just perpetuating the stereotype of stupid sports fans. I don’t bother with debating with people over sports because there’s nothing gentleman about it. You cheer for one team and the other fans attack you. I’m just saying, listen and respect the call. Arguing 5 minutes over little silly foul.

Eboy Posted: May.24 at 9:32 He’s a jacka*s to the nth degree and for years has embarrassed himself and anyone related to him through his always wrong mouth. But he is funny, because he’s so dumb.

Funny, cause Eboy pretty much described his OWN online appearance. This thread serves as proof of that.

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

Why was the McDonalds quote tasteless? Why are people making such a massive deal out of this?

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I think that its disrespectful to make fun of people’s jobs as if your job dictates your worth as a human.
I understand what Chuck was saying about people riding him about his failure when their entire life is a “failure”, but it doesn’t sit well with me.

  • Kas

    All heat fans are losers

Both fans and Chuck had a good laugh. Simple as that. No need 2 dissect this or look n2 something that is just not there. As far as his comment goes, like I said, if ur gonna dish it out b prepared 2 take it

  • sad jose

is there a way to hide certain commenters from the thread? i’d enjoy reading the comments if i just didn’t have to see some of this dumb sh*t by people who post 20 times and talk about themselves and all that. i know i could just skip over it, but i was hoping there’s somethin easier

  • Dumars11

despite all the controversy and PR nightmares, did any of you try and watch the show the other night?

I’m glad they’re moving back inside…could barely hear what EJ, Kenny & Chuck were saying over the waves of dumb-ass “fans”.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

you know whats tasteless…? the FOOD from mcDonalds.

  • http://yahoo.com shocker1

Charles, will you find out how much the officials are getting paid to call the game in OKC favor, because if they are not getting paid to call a bad game, then they are either blind, of just fools…… they are seeing things that no one else sees, and I think there should be another investigation of gambling in the NBA…
Oh yes, and Fisher is fitting right in as the pet bull, and Westbrook, is starting to look like something from the walking dead….face is sunk in on both sides.. anyway they are not my favorite team, but I would like to see a fair game, and I will be sending an email to the commissioner to see if he will check the officials and their families bank accounts. It happen once and it appears to be happening again.

  • Rashaad Burns

We all Know this season was manufactured champs by Stern and the officials, neither the Heat or OkC beat anyone straight up with out the officials help the Nba is fraud and the FBI should step in and jail stern and his officials. if enough pressure is put on them refs, they will fold and the nba would be no more attendance will fall.
