Tom Thibodeau Named Coach of the Year

It was known the Bulls would be making a big announcement to make today, and reports are indicating that the news is that Coach Thibs has won Coach of the Year. Via @KCJHoop:

    It’s gonna be strange as hell seeing anyone associated with the Bulls win anything…ain’t seen that since Gordon won 6th man his rookie year…

    he earned it but i think doug collins should have got C.O.Y. he had to completely change the culture of a team with a very young team and no “superstar” player.

    Hollins has done great in playoffs, but Memphis didn’t make a huge improvement on last year’s effort, even though Hollins is very underrated. Tightly contested COY race this year though. Thibs deserved it.

    Congrats to coach. Tho I still believe coach McMillan should have won it. Its all good tho. Coach has made Bulls relevant again

    I gotta roll with Doug Collins on this one. The 6ers were pegged to be tussling with the Nyets and the L-Wolves for the worst record in the league, and they snatched the 7 seed. The Bulls did make the jump from ‘good’ to ‘pretty damn good’ this year. The problem for Thibodeau now, is that the Bulls have to win it all this year or next year, or he’ll be fired. It’s the COY jinx. Once you win COY, you win it all right away, or you’re out on your arse.

    @ MikeC – that seems to be the trend the last few seasons, but in Thibs’ case he may be safe for a bit longer simple because the Bulls are way ahead of schedule.
    Best record in the NBA was something they thought they’d get in two or three seasons, not this fast. So I think he’ll get another two years or so to win it before he’s axed. Lol.
