Charles Barkley’s War Against Miami Heat Fans Continues

Sir Charles continues to battle Miami fans, as he lobs verbal grenades at the Heat faithful, and the team they root for: “When asked if Miami is the worst professional sports town, Barkley, who reiterated his admiration of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, said: ‘Yeah they have the worst fans. No question. It’s not even loud in there. You’re at the game and you are like, ‘Man this place isn’t even loud.’ At least when you go to Chicago, it’s loud in there, it’s crazy down in Dallas but it’s not even loud in Miami.’ When the Heat were playing the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference finals, Barkley said he liked James and Wade personally, but he called the Heat a ‘whiny bunch.’ He didn’t back off that charge on Wednesday when he was a guest on ‘The Waddle & Silvy Show’ on ESPN 1000. ‘Listen, if the Miami Heat were playing the Washington Generals I would pick the Washington Generals,’ Barkley said with a chuckle. ‘It’s something about that team that annoys me. They just a whiny bunch and I can’t root for them.’”

I don’t live in Las Vegas. And Vegas is where tourist go to kill themselves, people from other places, like Seattle, but your right I can’t find anything in the last 5 years to corrobate my claim, I am wrong. Whatever though, its irrelevant, not about basketball, and absolutely hilariou to even insinuate Seattle is a more enjoyable place to live then Miami. Whatever, you should bring up basketball since its what you calling for. sorry I was wrong about your former hometown, or town of the team you were sort of a fan of.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Depends on what your into. I like playing basketball outdoors and hiking, and pretty views of nature. I have been everywhere and the best place IMO to live is Seattle. Now swallow that Maynor load! And also, who the hell is your team!????? For dude that is all about team loyalty and criticizes fans constantly for not being the “right type of fan” according to you. who is your team? who you ride and die with? who do you represent? huh? i haven’t a clue and your always blabbing off so i should know by now. Don’t talk about fandom when you don’t even have a team.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I am from Phoenix, so i will claim the Suns. But I like a few others here am not a “die-hard” fan, honestly I could care less how they do, I have no control over the personnel decisions they make, so I don’t bind my allegiance and logic to one team. And my problem with yours and others “fandom” is that you are hypocrits by nature. You defend one aspect of your team/fandom/whatever and then bash the same aspects of other fans or teams. LIke you of ALL the “FANS” on this website, calling out Miami for not having longterm, loyal fans. Fa real? You don’t understand what its like for people to find a new team that just so happens to be good? the guy who CHOSE the Lakers over the Clippers? You can say its because of a player, or whatever, but so can these “new” Heat fans. Save me with your BS criticism, you don’t have any interest in actually talking about basketball. That’s pretty obvious by your obession with homosexual jokes about things that you were flat out wrong about in the first place. Like Eric “makes you a hater” Maynor.

  • http://Www.slamonline.com MichaelG

@Eboy, I don’t think the argument lies with the team, the Lakers like any team that wins championships, always seem to garner bandwagon fans across the country outside of Cali when they are wining. But that’s most teams. But it’s a mistake to compare Miamis fanbase with LA’s. #1 The Lakers are arguably the basketball equivalent of the Yankies in the NBA, sorry Boston. As such they have a much larger and loyal fanbase than most clubs. Especially compared to Miami so IMO it’s a bad comparison. The superstarless J kersey, Threatt, Ceballos, Nick the quick Lakers were actually quite beloved in LA among true Laker fans and the games held at the forum thou not sellouts were reasonably attended. Unlike the relative drop of in attendance we’ve seen from Heat fans and that was WITH a boneafide superstar with Wade and even inexcusably during this season!

  • retrobat

A little late here, but @ Darksaber and Mike. C., Co-sign Xmen 1st class! That movie was awesome. Great story and characterization. Did they take some liberties, yeah, but it was great and they made it their own. Seriously fantastic movie!

    Also, Thor was killin’ it!

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Who did i criticize? just point it out so i can see it. So i should have ignored the fact that the Lakers had my favorite player of all time on their team and joined the Sam Cassel Clippers got it. You are a point maker. I stated a fact that the Heat have sucked Long Term, but that is a fact. It’s not their shi**Y fanbases fault that they haven’t had a team to get behind. It’s pretty obvious the Lakers are a team with Dynasties the Heat are not. Sounds to me like i’m a bigger Suns fan than you. So i don’t even know what to make of this conversacion. Just don’t respond to me on here and i won’t respond to you. We have no reason to speak to eachother.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

MichaelG, I said that the Lakers didn’t have a million bandwagoners like Kap and Lakeshow during those times. I know there’s true loyalty in LA fanship. But….also like the Yankees….their bandwagon fills more and more with each title won….not due to some strange guys obsession with the team, but to be involved as a fan of a frontrunner.

  • robb

Hating the Heat has become a pretty irrational trend. I’m rooting for the Mavs, but watching Wade and Lebron is fun and I’m really enjoying the series.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

“LakeShow Posted: Jun.9 at 12:52 pm
Haha i don’t especially like Chuck cause i disagree with him often, but when he’s right he’s right lol. Heat don’t have any long time loyal fans because they have always sucked d*ck…” That’s a criticism of the Heat. “LakeShow Posted: Jun.9 at 3:11 pm
Stating the fact that the Heat have always sucked is calling someone out. Got it. Go masturbate to some stats. and then go take a load from Eric Maynor. Why don’t you try talking basketball for once instead of just being the new Jaytaylor” – Criticism of my comments. — And the point as to why you became a Laker fan is irrelevant. Its just you shouldn’t open your mouth about longterm fans of any team, because you are not a member of that group. — And your definition of fan is intruiging, if your more of a “suns fan” then me, explain how? Also are you saying its ok for a team with “dynasties” to have bandwagon fans, but it’s not for teams that don’t have a history of winning? Why would you ask me questions in the same comment as saying please don’t respond? That’s pretty contradictory, like your fandumb

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

And you should open your mouth about long term fans because your “technically a suns fan” got it. Point maker. This is so tiresome with you dude.

  • Jake

After reading all these comments, I now know why Americans get made fun of. We can’t spell for sh*t! Come on people.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I have heard a couple times recently about Dwade being the 3rd best SG of all time? Are we prepared to say that yet? i guess he is becuase everyone else i can think of is lacking something Wade has. I’d still take prime T-Mac over Dwade, maybe even over Kobe haha. Ray Ray is ma boy to.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Jake your sentence would make a english teacher cry, fragments, wrong placement of Predicate nominative. wrong comma placement. F*ck it dude. Just write and do your best. Unless your like, “i thinck labrawn is da betterest players now. then stfu. lol

  • http://Www.slamonline.com MichaelG

@Eboy, got it. Agreed. On another note, I hate it when guys generalize and make statements like “this fanbase sucks” it’s completely ignorant and purely based on bias. In allot of places due to local economy or a lack of solid basketball culture most of the “real fans” are not accurately represented, since they get together with other fans, or go to the local sports bar to watch the game. Going to the game is not a past time as there is very little legacy or tradition. I’ve spent allot of time in Florida and it’s definitely a football state, in most parts lacking a die hard basketball culture. That probobly as much as anything is the reason why Miamis fanbase gets criticized. But aside from that no teams bandwaggoners are any different or better than another they are all here today gone tommorow and it comical when they call eachother out. Lol!

  • http://Www.slamonline.com MichaelG

Oh, and the winner of tonights game will be holding the LOBT. Belie dat!

“and absolutely hilarious to even insinuate Seattle is a more enjoyable place to live then Miami”
    ________________________________________________________________________

    Why?
I mean, that really depends on the person.
Personally, I’d rather live in Seattle than Miami anyday.
Miami is absolutely beautiful, and filled with beautiful people (on the outside, anyways), but there’s too many damn people there.
The best place I ever lived was Okinawa, it was also gorgeous and tropical with nice beaches and all that, but there were so few people, you could have the whole beach to yourself sometimes.
And people were genuinely nice there.
Seattle got that beatuful nature aspect to it.
It reminds me a lot of Juneau, Alaska.
My only point being it all depends on the person, you’re generalizing.
By the way, Arizona is the last place on earth I’d want to be.
I’d get a warmer reception from Taliban fighters in Afghanistan than I would in Maricopa County, AZ.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

Lakeshow, I wouldn’t take prime T’Mac over Kobe. Sure, T’Mac was a better offensive player than Kobe but Kobe has a work-ethic and determination miles ahead of T-Mac, which is probably why(that and injuries)T-Mac is suffering in has-been hell in Detroit right now.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

That last point about Arizona may have been unnecessary.
I just couldn’t help myself, I hate those racist pr*cks Brewer, Arpaio and Pearce.
I’d hate it there, I bet you love it there.
See? It all depends on the person, is all I meant.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

LMAO @RigNig @Blackphanties (lol sorry dood could not resist.) Your right in everyway. But like you said T-Mac a little better on the O side and thats what i mean. Prime T-Mac > every SG but Jordan… NBA overall he is maybe scratching top 10 all said and done. I want him on the Lakers to run the point next season lol.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Ha ha that last comment came out wrong too.
Damnit, I’ma just gag myself for now.
My bad, Soop, it’s all love tho.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I open my mouth about you being a hypocrit. I would leave you alone if you weren’t. I would just call you out on basketball related topics if you ever commented on them. Like now. If someone calls Dwyane Wade the 3rd best shooting guard of all time you either should assume they are 10 years old, or retarded. MJ, Kobe, Jerry West, Rick Barry, if you categorize him as such, Oscar Roberston. Those 5 are definitely better then Wade if you categorize them as SG’s. Lets let Wade turn 30 before we even truly consider his all time rank

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

I heard North Dakota was the most racist state.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

NBA overall SG’s of course. **

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

    that’s in response to Rigo

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Prime TMac > every SG but Jordan???
Could you please elaborate on this?

  • http://slamonline Brion

Eboy. (Not man) I was always kind of a supporter of your comments because they were sometimes funny and you always stood by them. BUT, your stock has dropped dramatically in my book since you dogged on SEATTLE!!! You obviously have never been here because its one of the most beautiful places on earth. We have the best micro brews, best chr*nic, and a unbelievable music scene. (3 of my favorite things). And when we had a NBA team we were the loudest arena around. Check out a Seahawks game sometime if you want to hear the loudest NFL stadium in the league. Miami is a beautiful place I had a grat vaca once there. Just show Seatown a little respect son.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

THe majority of people would rather live in Miami then Seattle, better? Lol Rigo it’s hilarious that people think Arizona is racist against Mexicans. I work with mexicans everyday, infact I’ve been learning from a mexican american everyday for the last 6 years, and guess what? He and all of the other guys at my work that are literally from Mexico, they aren’t American, don’t have any issue with any legislation in Arizona. I don’t want to get into the politics of it all, but let me just say, if your here legally you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Police don’t and aren’t told to seek mexicans out or anythin like that, just are told to ask for identification when stopping a person for any violation that warrants a citation. This includes white people, black people, green people, everyone. Which is what happens in every other state in the nation anyway, cops say “may I see identification?” Basically those mexican people that went about getting into our country legally are no longer being treated the same as those that came here illegally and that’s the only difference from how it used to be.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

oh and I ain’t gettin offended, there is nothing for me to be offended about. How my state is portrayed to the rest of the country is not controlled by me. I live here, I know how it is.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Meh, I’ve just heard way too many stories from the Mexican underground (lol).
And when I read about what happened to my fellow former devildog Jose Guerena in Tucson I vowed to never, ever set one foot in that state.
    Sh*t’s getting serious.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Yeah what happened to Jose Guerena is the most dispicable and terrible thing I have ever heard about from a government agency meant to protect the safety of its people. It had nothing to do with him being mexican though, just wrong place to live, and a very stupid swat chief or whoever set up the supposed “drug bust.” — And don’t get me wrong, from the way Arizona has been portrayed, I understand any person from being weary of even coming here, sh*t sounds terrible. But it really isn’t, minus a Pei Wei raid (they apparently over 60% of their employees were illegal immigrants) and the outlawing of “independent-labor” (the guys standing infront of Home Depot) any different then it was 5+ years ago.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Shout Out to Brion! The best Chron*c! Northern Lights coming in this week. The best Music. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden. I could go on all day. Can’t wait to get back home!

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

I’m on the outside looking in, so I suppose I’d have to take your word for it.
And truthfully, I know Arizona isn’t much different from other states in terms of having racist people.
    As well as non-racist people.
I have no problem with people who are against illegal immigration, whether the illegals be brown, black, white, purple whatever.
But there’s far too many people who are using this anti-illegal immigration issue as a platform to spew their hatred against brown people, even if they’re illegal, legal or even natural born citizens.
And I just feel like in Arizona, too many people in powerful positions (like Jan Brewer) who are of the second type.
I’m still a big John McCain fan though. That’s my dude right there.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

T-Mac in his prime was better offensively than every SG I have seen play beside Jordan. Thats all I am saying.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I feel you that makes sense. I can’t deny that there are those like Brewer who seem to be out for certain groups of people. And there are clearly the racists, everywhere. But honestly the legislation that has been passed has made it better on actual American’s and Legal Immigrants who are in need of work, and it has also freed up hospital space, public school space in classrooms, and many other amenities that those that are here legally have the right to first. But at the same time, there are certain illegals who are/were here for many many years, working, and sending their kids through school that got absolutely screwed by the changes.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Lakeshow you realize McGrady never shot over 46% of any season in his whole career right? I mean I am not arguing with you or anything, but you realize he had some major offensive & defensive issues to go along with his amazing scoring and passing abilties? like laziness, and complacency? I’m seriously asking, cuz idk if maybe you are just kind of romanticizing how good he really was, because he was so much fun to watch.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Did you read what i said? PRIME T-Mac is the best offensive SG I have seen in my life. Obviously shooting percentages are not that important to me, since you know i’m a Kobe guy. Defensively he was below average. Leadership qualities he was below average. intangibles mostly below average. i’m putting him in a pretty inclusive group with me saying “in PRIME, he was the best OFFENSIVE sg i have seen beside MJ.) Not a crazy statement lol.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

Man, i wish Ryne&Co. would get Omar to crizique the slew of summer movies coming out now so we could have a blast commenting on his unique style.
@MikeC: of course they took liberties, i for one could have done without January Jones scrawny butt playing Frost WITH her secondary mutation. A form that came much later than in the 1st class storyline.
Also hated how they showcased Havoc’s powers (one of my fav mutant characters).
But man, Mcavoy, Fassbender and Bacon just took that movie by the horns and made it their own. I mean Bacon even mastered a solid german accent, inflections and all.
@Overtime: for me, Thor was easily better than IM2, although Downey Jr. kills it as Stark. Adaptation was actually pretty spot on with the comics. Didn’t take too many liberties à la 1st class, and the effects were great. Top notch. I even liked the comedy in it (I need a horse :)

  • http://www.slamonline.com MichaelG

@Nbk, so working with mexicans some of whome share your views makes you an expert on how mexicans as a whole feel about Arizonas politics and racial climate? You have the right to your own opinion, but using the word “hilarious” to describe Arizonas negative reputation regaurding the existing racial climate between whites and hispanics is naive at best and quite dismissive. Thats like me saying “hey guys i live in brownsville and work with a few african americans, and they dont have a problem with white people. Dont believe the hype brownsville is a great place for white people to live its a joke to suggest otherwise.” Perhaps if you would have said exagerrated but HILARIOUS? really? I know for a fact that there are many hispanics living in AZ that would find your assertation less than humorous.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

DarkSaber you laughed in Thor also? I thought it was just me and the overweight post menopause women who thought those corny jokes were funny lol. I know everyone is downing it, but i’m anxious for Green Latern and even more so Captain America!

  • SikhWitIt

No one would ever want to go to Seattle? Wow, this EBoy’s dude’s an idiot. Seattle’s the most educated city in the country for starters (highest number of college educated residents). It’s the most innovative city in the country (Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Weyerhauser, Costco, and even though I hate it, Starbucks–all started here). It’s the most beautiful city in the country right on the ocean, green, crisp clean air, and major mountain ranges on both sides. It has arguably the greatest music culture in the country (Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and too many up and coming hip-hop artists to name). We have the best seafood in the country and some of the best restaurants. And it has some of the best sports fans in the country. Qwest is the loudest building in sports, and the Key was the loudest building the NBA has ever seen–Chuck’ll confirm on that. FOr you to sit there and justify Miami’s fan support is a laughter. But I guess I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone who’s an admitted bandwagoner.

  • http://Slamonline.com Nbk

Did I say mexicans as a whole? I said those I work with, which implies quite literally those that I work with. Which isn’t 2 or 3, there are between 10-25 employees at my work that were born in Mexico. And second it is hilarious, it’s Also hilarious that someone in a different place can think that legislation passed by a group of people makes the whole state racist. The vast majority of people here are either Mexican, have mexicans in their family, or are friends with Mexican people. My assertion that the state isn’t racist but it’s hilarious when people who have probably never even been here think it is is not dismissive it’s laughing at ignorance. And the analogy is more like me assuming everyone in Iraq is a terrorist because of one group of people. One group of politicians from Arizona has caused the rest of the country to think we are racist, when really the level of racism here is no higher then anywhere else.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    The laws sought to:
Parts of the law blocked from taking effect while the case works its way through the courts include a provision requiring police to question people’s immigration status while enforcing other laws if there is a reasonable suspicion they’re in the country illegally. Other provisions that are on hold include: requiring all immigrants to obtain or carry immigration registration papers; making it a state criminal offense for an illegal immigrant to seek work or hold a job; and allowing police to arrest suspected illegal immigrants without a warrant.
That’s a little more than requiring you to show ID, which isn’t even legal. Police can request your ID with probable cause, but you don’t HAVE to carry ID.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

And if you believe the homie Jose’s death had nothing to do with him being Mexican, then I don’t know what to say.
Some people are already suspects because of skin color or name.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

You also can’t blame Arizonians for asking people to quit illegally coming into their home cities and clogging up their hospitals, schools, and other public amenities meant for tax paying citizens…

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

    Co-sign AllenP @ 6:49.
I don’t believe for a second him being of Mexican descent “had nothing to do with it”.
@LakeShow – the problem lies in the fact that, if the full law went into effect, cops could ask anyone they suspect of being an illegal to provide proof that they’re legal.
So who do you think would be most likely to be harassed if that aspect went into effect? The Canadian whose visa expired years ago, or the Chicano who’s family has lived in Arizona dating back to when it belonged to Mexico?

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

@LakeShow contrary to popular belief illegal immigrants do actually pay taxes. I’m not defending them I’m just saying a fact.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

You talking sales tax BlackP? Cause definitely not fed tax or property tax. And RigoNigo, I was doing a little devils advocate cause obviously this is wrong but so is it to illegally enter a country and take advantage of the benefits. Even if they work harder than every other person of native heritage, its still wrong. Do things the right way and we don’t have this problem.
