Chris Bosh on LeBron James: ‘He Struggled. Point Blank, Period’

LeBron’s shockingly disappointing performance last night in Game 4 of the NBA Finals left everyone in Miami shaking their heads, from fans, media, to even James’ own bewildered teammates. From the Sun-Sentinel: “Where was he? This wasn’t the superstar in Game 4 of the NBA Finals who leaped tall buildings and bent steel much of his career. This wasn’t the leader who demanded his teammates, ‘play aggressive,’ just before the game. This wasn’t the player I just defended against the media whirl the day before. This was a player who disappeared unlike in any of his 89 previous playoff games. LeBron scored eight points. Eight. You have crazy eights. You have eight maids a milking. You haven’t seen LeBron score eight points in a playoff game. You haven’t seen him do that in his past 434 games. ‘He struggled,’ Chris Bosh said after the Heat’s 86-83 loss. ‘Point blank. Period.’ LeBron made 3 of 11 shots. He didn’t score in a fourth quarter where he took one shot. Who didn’t expect the switch to turn on for him right to the Mike Miller desperation air ball at the buzzer? Instead, LeBron had a mystifyingly invisible game on a night where any offensive contribution would have swung the series. Chris Bosh scored 24 points. Dwyane Wade had 32 and tried to will this team to the win in the end.”

    Don’t get me wrong. I love LeBron, I have supported him through everything from the decision to the excesive celebrations, but at this point I am just dumb founded. He didn’t seem into the game at all last night. Granted Jason Kid is a good defender, but there is no reason why LeBron shouldn’t have attacked him at every chance. He wasn’t even looking for his jump shot. I don’t get it. Some games he can score 50 on outside shots (against Magic early this year) other games he drives exclusively and attacks and yet in other games he finds a perfect balance (against Cleveland first game at the Q). I can comprehend what was going on in his mind last night. I didn’t see the presser, was he asked about this?? How did he respond?

    On a side note, Wade is awesome. Man did he ever try to will the team. Defense and offense.

    If Miami wins the title, I hope that Lebron fans will start to give Kobe more credit for his first 3 rings.

    Oh Kobe gets Robin like credit for sure. Kobe fans need to relax with claiming he deserves Batman type credit.

    Yea, after Jason Kidd drew a charge on Lebron he became completely different. Lebron just finished saying no one can guard him one on one…looked like Jason Kidd did a pretty good job last night. Lebron needs to step it up and get to the line (then actually hit the free throws lol).

    when kidd guards wade, thats the reason wade is able to score. when kidd guards lebron, lebron cant score because kidds an elite defender. get it straight…

    No Deshawn props? Kidd wasn’t the main culprit…

  • Groves

    @Gman *couldn’t care less

    I feel like Lebron was not looking for his shot so Bosh could get his. Bosh was the aggressive one this time and Lebron was just happy ditching out the ball and getting his assists. It felt like he was not even trying. I’m a huge J Kidd but there is no way that he can guard LBJ one on one when Lebron is actually playing up to his usual standards.
