Daniel Gibson Mad at LeBron James’ Comments About Cavs Teammates

Boobie Gibson, who has a history of beefing with LBJ, was not thrilled to hear what he considered a shot at the Cavs by James following the Bulls/Heat series. From the Plain Dealer (via The Dugout Sports Show): “After Miami defeated Chicago last week to advance to the NBA Finals, James talked about his decision to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. ‘I wanted to team up with some guys that would never die down in the moment,’ James said. ‘The opportunity presented itself with this great organization and we made it happen.’ Speaking on The Dugout Sports Show Podcast on Wednesday, Gibson said, ‘The way it’s said, you can’t help but take it personal. … I don’t think great players should feel the need to say this about a team or say that about a team. I think what it all boils down to if you’re great, you go play great, be great and everybody will realize you’re great. And you wouldn’t have to let it be known that everybody else was less great. Great players shouldn’t have to do that. So I feel like it’s kind of an admission. He might have needed some help. He might have needed to go somewhere and find someone who is a little greater so maybe he wouldn’t die down in those moments.’”

Who the hell is Boogie?? and while we’re at it. who the hell is Labron??

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

NO, im not being sarcastic Black Phantom. I truly believe someday Kobe will win and Jaytaylor will shut his mouth. (insert sarcasim…everywhere)

  • http://slamonline Allenp

Boogie is what a Droid X changes Boobie to.
And to all the folks who mentioned Clyde Drexler, he joined the team in 1995, not 1994.
In 1994 the second leading scorer was Otis Thorpe, and the starting two guard was Vernon Maxwell who was sub 40 percent from the floor and sub 30 percent from three point land.
    Get your facts straight.

  • JTaylor21

This is what i’m saying, People to bathe in a tub full of roses. Breach of your balls

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Yeah, I took that as a google translate fail.
I took it you meant “People who bathe in a tub full of roses. Busting your balls”.

  • BigMj

well, I applaud bobbie for his gull to keep stepping forward and standing up for his team. And also to the ppl who keep saying boobie who? where u at. the boy has to have talent and the ability to PLAY in the league. He had a decent college career and was a mcdonalds ALL-AMERICAN. Yall NEED to quit riding a dude who COULDNT do it. AND remember, pippen was drafted in 88 FROM a division 2 school. So, who MADE pippen? U dont hear jordan calling out his ex-teammates about their ability. He saw they made to the L because of their BASKETBALL ability.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I personally like all the people who said they thought LeBron didn’t have a shot at a title with that roster in Cleveland (which at the time wasn’t many) but still proceeded to pick the Bulls this year. THose people are my heroes

  • http://slamonline Allenp

    LOL^

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

I already know I’m your hero, Soop.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

All you bulls fans are my hero! I wish I could live in a fantasy land too. (“easy for you to say Ryan, I live in a fantasy land!” ~ Michael Scott) — but fa real y’all get a pass from me, your hometown bias negates any contradiction in your fandom…..unless you actually put money on the Bulls. then, well, ya know.

  • http://fkjslf.com Jukai

    Uh huh.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

BigMJ is under the impression that being good in high school and college makes you a good pro. lol, my boys Miles Simon, Mateen Cleaves, Adam Morrison, and the O’Bannon brothers would like a word. — And Pippen made Pippen who was helped to be made by Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson. Boobie Gibson was decent for 2 series in 2007, he’s still in the manufacturing plant though, he hasn’t been made yet, just beta tested.

  • JTaylor21

Damn, google translate is a motherf*cka.
Also, congrats to the clown that continues to use my name. You have achieved your goal of being a man on the internet, now go back to being a simp in the real world.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

And Jordan called out his ex-teammates ALL the damn time.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

And come on now, can we kill the Cleveland/ Chicago comparisons? The Bulls were better this season at every position except SF than those Cavs teams were.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Didn’t he tell Will Perdue that he didn’t deserve his last name?

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

@BigMJ Everyone here, including you, can name 20 scrubs in the L off the top of our heads. Just because you got the job doesn’t mean you deserve to be there, it just means you lucked out, or you were tall enough to impress a short scout.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

But the Cavs had the best player on earth. And the Bulls had one that is scratching the top 5. Same situation, Bulls are better, but not much. Boozer is not much better then Verajao (in the playoffs). Defensively is where the difference would be, but both teams were tops in the league. Cleveland actually had a better offense, even in the playoffs, so its a wash basically. One man teams, with no legitimate 2nd option, an unimaginative offense (for whatever reasons), and a lack of overall shooting. Same situation, different city, different market.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

“If you pass the ball to Bill Cartwright, don’t expect to get the ball from me.”- Michael Jordan to John Paxson.

  • http://fkjslf.com Jukai

Allen: Jordan has a rich history of trash talking his teammates hysterically. He went on a rampage about how Stacey King was the fattest guy on the team but couldn’t use his giant ass to box out for a rebound… Stacey King threatened to break Jordan’s legs after the rant, but it didn’t stop Jordan from seeing Stacey King carrying a box later in the season and shouting “I HOPE THERE’S A JUMPSHOT IN THAT BOX!”
He told Paxon if he ever passed the ball to Cartwright, Jordan wouldn’t pass the ball to Paxon.
He told Charles Davis that he shouldn’t bother to get tickets for his family, cause you can see people on the bench just fine on TV
After Scottie’s ‘migraine’ game he used to ask Scottie if he was having headaches every so often after bad shooting games by Pippen
When asked to describe his team, he said something to the effect of “the white guys try hard but have no talent, and the black guys don’t try at all!”
Jordan was a hoot. And also a strangely aggressive, terrible leader. But hey, you know, GOAT, so…

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

@AllenP – yeah, he said he should go by “Will Vanderbilt” because Purdue was a top Big Ten basketball school at the time.
He punched Perdue in practice once. Punched Steve Kerr also.
And a bunch of other stuff too.
@Soop – Varajao played center, and Noah’s better than him.
I think you’re underrating Thibs’ offense. It’s not the stuff of genuis that his defense is, but it’s not Vinny Del Negro’s so overall, a huge upgrade from seasons past!!

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

Also, Jordan vehemently disapproved of the Bulls picking up Pippen. But if we’re quoting MJ, there are a billion that take the cake. Most of these are from books that I used to own.

“They don’t need a ticket to watch you sitting on the bench. They can go to your house for that.” – Michael to Charles Davis who was sorting through his tickets for his family and friends——————-

“You ever hear of a guy, six-eleven maybe and two hundred sixty pounds, a guy big and fat like that and he can’t get but two rebounds, if that many, running all over the damn court and he gets two rebounds? Big guy like that and he gets one rebound. Can’t even stick his ass into people and get more than that…Big, fat, fat guy. One rebound in three games. Power forward. Maybe they should call it powerless forward.” – Michael ripping Stacey King a new one—————–

“He was scared in there and panicking. He just lost it when Stockton scored.” – Michael on B.J. Armstrong’s mental fragility—————–

“It’s a hell of a lot easier to make Earl Monroe look good than it is Brad Sellers.”——————

“I hope there’s a jumpshot in there.” – Michael to Stacey King who was walking into the locker room with a box——————

“They’re not interested in winning. They just want to sell tickets, which they can do because of me. They won’t make any deals to make us better. And this Kukoc thing. I hate that. They’re spending all their time chasing this guy.”———————

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Basically, probably the only teammates Jordan never sh*tted on verbally were Charles Oakley because that’s his best friend, Dennis Rodman because he didn’t want to hurt his fragile ego (he needed him to be good mentally to help the team out) and Robert Parrish cause he respected the hell out of him.
I think everyone else was fair game unless they earned his respect.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Rigomatic we are not comparing the Bulls to the Bulls. WE are comparing the 2011 Bulls to the 2010 Cavs, and that Cavs team had a better, more efficient & productive offense. All season, and in the playoffs. And Verajao played center sometimes, well with Jamison he played Center more, but that team had Shaq playing 20+ minutes a night, and Zydrunas playing 10, so for atleast 32 minutes a night the PF was either Verajao or Jamison. (it’s irrelevant), have James made that Cleveland team atleast even, they won 61 regular season games (just 1 less then Chicago), and lost to the eventual Easter Conference Champs 4-2, while Chicago lost to the EC Champs 4-1. The teams are pretty parallel, 1 all star, 60+ wins, lost to the eventual Eastern Conference Champs after being the 1 seed, had the best or one of the best defenses in the league, had the league MVP, and their second best scorers both disappeared in the playoffs.

  • JTaylor21

Rigo, wrong. MJ never talk sh*t to Oak because dude would have broken money, literally. Giving a new meaning to the term “breaking the bank”.

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

MJ liked Oakley, he was angry when they traded him because he played hard. I mean, yeah he could’ve crushed MJ, but I don’t think that’s why MJ didn’t talk about him, it was cause he wanted him around.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Parrallel or not, I still contend Rose had a better supporting cast. Though LeBron was/is the better player. That’s my main objection to the comparisons.
    LOL @ “breaking the bank”.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I guarantee Mike would have said something, Oakley never assaulted a teammate. And they are actually best friends, so Rigo is more or less right. Except I am willing to bet, as best friends, Mike is more then willing to call Oakley out, just not to the media. Oakley never really did anything wrong either, we was a great teammate that always understood his role. Set picks, rebound, foul hard.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Rigo I said that they did, I also said having LeBron the best player on earth evens up the difference.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Jordan didn’t say anything to Oakley because Oakley would have beaten his a(ss with no hesitation. Ask Scottie Pippen about Oakley.
But, I think my point has been proven.
Basically, if you know nothing about what you’re talking about and then expect me to show your opinions respect you are fooling yourself. Ain’t gonna happen.
If you say some stupid stuff, I’m going to say it was stupid.

  • JTaylor21

Best friends or not. Oak would have checked Mike if dude ever talked about him the way he talked about other teammates. Blood brothers have been fighting and in some cases killing each other since the beginning of time (Cain/Abel), so I could see Oak doing a number on Money.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ Allenp: You really think Jason Kidd’s finals teammates in New Jersey were better than Iverson and LeBron’s? I don’t think so. Maybe better than LeBron’s, but no way were they better than Iverson’s teammates.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

    F*ckin sh*t my f*ckin comments aren’t f*ckin showing up again.
What the f*ck?! Bet this one will f*ckin show up though…

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    lmao @ Rigo.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Ehh your right Taylor, if Jordan talked about Oakley like that to the media sh*t would have gone down. But Oakley never really did anything like that to deserve open criticism. And he put everyone who hit Michael on their ass the next play down the court, until he was a Knick.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

    Apologies for the profanity-laced tirade.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

I actually laugh at the quote about BJ Armstrong’s mental fragility almost everytime I see it.

  • JTaylor21

Hysterical, Rigo’s going Archie Bonkers on the net. eHarmony my a**

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

JTaylor how many lil wayne lines you use as adjectives. “stop it slime” “going Archie Bonkers” – does that dude dictate your slang?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    dood*

  • ai come back

I think that jordan expected for his teammates to be motivated by all his sh%t that they would play harder, whenever somebody trashed talked him he would go crazy. durin his second finals run some unc friends were trashtalkin him late at night DURING THE 92 finals he took them to a nike facility and played till like 3 in the morning just to prove them wrong. ( i think it was 92 finals i could be wrong)

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

LOL Rigo, thanks for apologizing for the asterisks. And Teddy-the-Bear’s got a point, that Nets team had leaders but no stars. I really thought VC was already in NJ for that. I didn’t watch that series b/c I figured TD and co had it on lock.
