Donnie Walsh Out as Knicks President

He’ll be staying on as a consultant, but Donnie Walsh will no longer hold the job title as Knicks president and GM. More details are certainly on their way. Via Howard Beck:

Wow. Walsh, Triano, Kuester… who’s next?

  • RunNGun

No more “Make it happen, Walsh” one-liners anymore. =(

  • apache

WHATTTTTTTTT!?!?!?! donnie did everything for that team its all dolans fault

  • RunNGun

Walsh is out, so that means they’re bringing back Isiah Thomas. No surprise!

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

Damn, I called that one, too. Months ago.
He was pissed about the Carmelo Anthony trade.

Mike D’Antoni just lost a supporter in the front office. Perhaps Phil Jackson is coming to New York.

^Seriously! Walsh was D’Antoni’s lifeline with the Knicks.

  • bull22

as much as i hate the knicks and their organization, but firing walsh is really stupid considering the legwork he did to make this laughable franchise amusing again…. and if they hire isiah thomas, i will love it! it means 5 or 10 years of knick misery. taking a cue from run’n'gun. JAMES DOLAN, YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA

  • JTJ

    make it happen isiah!

  • nick89

Thomas isn’t coming back, Walsh is out, and D’Antoni is soon to follow. F*ck the Bulls. Jukai is my lover. We’re two men in love.

RIP “Make it happen, Walsh” :(

Sending smoke signal to Phil Jackson in Montana. Come home Phil, come full circle.

  • Drew

If it wasn’t for Walsh the Knicks would still be sinking right now. I hope they seriously don’t ever bring back Isiah again.

The names may change, but “make it happen” will LIVE ON FOREVER. I’m just keeping it real like Nick Anderson’s dad when Shaq left the Magic to join the Lakers.

  • toinefan88

I guess Walsh didn’t make enough happen.

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

Genius. The next move I’m looking forward is the nets move to Brooklyn. F*ck the Knicks.

I think this has more to do with his health than it does with his performance as GM…

  • All Day

Will Dolan’s favorite GM soon return to the front office? It can’t be…or could it be…could it be Knicks fans…he’s baaaaaaaaaaack…Make it happen, Isiah!!!!!! LOL!!!

  • http://www.walshsportsblog.com Darren

Sounds to me like Walsh was fired and they’ve agreed to use health as an excuse.

I remember a web comic where Isiah had opened up a hotdog stand and sold a New Yorker a hot dog and the guy says “this hotdog is awful, it’s moldy and the relish does nothing for the taste!” and Isiah responds “Well, the hotdog had no heart!” and the guys screams “What does that mean, you MADE the hotdog you dumbass! And stop looking so smug, you suck!”
Well, yeah, that’s all I’m thinking about right now.
Me and my apparent lover nick89 are VERY upset about this.

  • http://slamonline.com Jukai

I cross dress, don’t judge me.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Chris Mannix said he guarantees Isiah Thomas will be the “under-the-radar” (except we already know about it) Co-GM (true). and then, – Allan Houston started getting ready for a comeback (false).

  • O

I’m at a loss for words. Donnie Walsh worked wonders for the franchise. Sure, we sucked every year he was here, but there was nothing but method to his madness. Now that we finally have a respectable duo to build around, Dolan kicks him to the curb to bring back zEEEEK! I’m tight, man…

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

It was a long wait, but Donnie really turned this franchise around. Enjoy spending time with your family, Donnie; it’s worth it more than trying to fix this joke of an organization.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Does Dolan really want to bring Zeke back or is it just a rumor?
If so, I’m guessing he wanted Zeke’s opinion in time for the draft.

    lol @ orange

  • ClydeSays

Once it came out that Walsh thought the Knicks (Dolan) jumped the gun and gave up too much for Carmelo, you knew he wasn’t going to last much longer.

For those Isiah lovers out there, read this: http://nymag.com/news/sports/45787/

  • Dagger

I almost hope the Knicks bring back Thomas, so they have the shortest relevance of any rebuilding franchise in NBA history. Besides, I miss laughing at that trainwreck. Should be fun.

  • http://fkjslf.com Jukai

LOL, 3:32pm was me having a sense of humor. The next one wasn’t. Love you guys.

Make it NOT happen Walsh! Haha! Im glad that line is done and over with.

  • http://slamonline.com everything

    LOL @ Jukai nd nick89!

  • Groves

@RunNGun, walsh will be missed, but your ‘make it happen walsh” one liners were $h!t anyway

  • sefos

why, god, why? why tease us with a season of respectability just to take it all away? if isiah comes back i am giving up on the knicks, my team of damn near 20 years.

  • http://nicekicks.com meloman2.0

great, i had to deal with grunwald in toronto… now the knicks too?
