Jason Terry Backed Up Talk With Performance in Game 4

Everyone shook their heads sadly at Jason Terry’s boasts and promises following Game 3, but it was Jet and the Mavs who had the final chuckle last night as they knotted up the NBA Finals at two games apiece: “Most people collectively laughed when Jason Terry offered up an assortment of garbage/cavalier talk towards LeBron James in between Games 3 and 4. The idea that Jason Terry was going to outscore, or play with, arguably the best one-on-one player in the NBA at any point in this series was laughable. Right? It was. What a joke, and what a dumb thing to say. Jason Terry compared to LeBron James? But there was Jason Terry, doing as he promised and making plays in the fourth quarter of the Mavs’ Game 4 86-83 win against the Heat on Tuesday night. There was Jason Terry, not Dirk Nowitzki, standing on the foul line with six seconds remaining with a chance to put the Mavs up three. And there was LeBron James, all but invisible. A stat line no one thought possible: Terry: 17 points, 3 assists,3 steals in 35 minutes. LeBron James: 8 points,9 rebounds, 7 assists in 45 minutes. ‘I thought Jet took it really upon himself today in the fourth quarter when we were down nine. He made two back-to-back plays to get us right back in the game,’ Nowitzki said. ‘He was phenomenal today.’ Terry did what he said he would do — he stepped up. In the fourth quarter. Of his 17 points, 10 came in the final 12 minutes of the game.”

Thing is, when you have a skill (scoring) you just flat out have it. Mike, JVG and Jackson had a bit of fun with the comments and basically dismissed Jet’s skills. If Tyson chandler said he would out rebound Lebron would that be crazy?? Or if JJ Barea said he could dribble circles around Lebron. My point Jet is a flat out scorer what made everyone thing he wouldn’t be able to score? because the guy guarding him had ‘James’ on the back of his jersey? Please.

Where was Lebron’the Jet stopper that scores 8 pts’ in yesterday? :)

i hate the heat and yeah he had a good game, but you still got to win another game at home to have a chance at title and then go back to miami, lots of ball left…

    lebron best one-on-one player ?!

  • MikeC.

JET is a veteran player. He has long-term career averages. He had a couple bad games, and it’s time for him to come back to his career norms. JET played like the usual JET. Unfortunately, that also means that JET is going to start yapping like the usual JET. Cuban is keeping his trap closed to reduce distractions. He should drop that knowledge on JET.

When JET starts stroking he can light it up, we all know this.
What I don’t understand is Barea 6 0″ and JET is 6 2″ but Barea looks like a midget out there while JET looks reasonably status quo in the heights.

I was wrong about Jet. But now – can YOU do it for a 7 game series? And Barea is more like 5’10.” There’s no way he looks 6′ to anyone…

Maybe Mike Bibby banged LBJ’s mom.

Performance my a**. He had a horrible shooting percentage and missed three consecutive this-could-be-the-dagger in the last minutes.

Pablasso even hating on eight 4th quarter points.
Solid to good performance in my opinion.
    You can’t hit every shot.

Also, every player in the game missed “dagger” shots in the last couple minutes. The only real consistently spectacular player all game was Dwyane Wade; until he fumbled that pass. But so what, Dirk missed a potential game tying shot to end game 3, there’s no guarantee Wade was hitting a three even if he caught the ball

  • mdshuai33

And by the way, anyone notice where Lebron was on Dirk’s last layup? Three f***ing feet away, and making no attempt to put any pressure on a man who’s been killing it in the fourth and just beat his defender off the dribble. Sure he was “guarding” Terry, preventing a kick-out open three situation, but what would you rather have: Dirk taking a Wade open layup or Jet taking a likely contested three. I hope the answer is obvious. And where was Wade on that play? Trying to jump over Dirk’s head and almost blocking the shot FROM THE WEAK SIDE.

^^^^ this – i noticed this play on Dirk’s layup at the end, Bron was standing there chewing his mouth guard like it was a layup line.

In one game, game 4, Terry has had more 4th quarter points than LeBron James in the entire series thus far.
Let that sink in for a second.
