Lakers, Sixers Talking Lamar Odom/Andre Iguodala Swap?

According to SI, there’s a possibility that Iggy and Odom could be switching teams heading into next season: “The 76ers are continuing to explore trade options for Andre Iguodala, and league sources said that a deal with the Lakers involving Lamar Odom has been discussed recently. While it’s unclear whether the deal has real potential or is still alive, it’s yet another sign that the Sixers are determined to land an impact player while improving their salary-cap situation in any trade for their second-leading scorer and top defender. Iguodala is owed a combined $44 million for the next three seasons (including $13.5 million next season), while Odom is set to make $8.9 million next season in the final guaranteed year of his contract. The deal would have to include another Lakers player in order to work under salary-cap rules. One of the sources said the Lakers might include small forward Ron Artest, who will be paid $21.7 million over the next three seasons and has an early-termination option for 2013-14. Iguodala is in play for Minnesota as well, according to a rival general manager who called the possibility of the Sixers acquiring the No. 2 pick in a package for their 27-year-old swingman ‘definitely real.’”

This would be great for both teams I think. Mainly for LA. Sixers could very well improve as well since Odom is those one of a kind talents plus a lot of experience.

  • Overtime

nahhhhhhhhhh. Swap both our small forwards for one? Who can’t really do much more than the other two? More athletic sure…but…
Surprised this is first time Odom has popped up in trade rumours. Its a shame, those two chips dont happen without him. But he seriously looked disinterested in the elimination game

  • PatFondz

I’m not so sure about this trade, I understand what the Lakers are going for, but LO is the most consistent player that the Lakers have. Iggy’s been known to drift in and out in terms of his performance. If they could include Thaddeus Young and then the Lakers could offer another guy to match salary, I think it would be a better trade for the Lakers. But seriously, all these trade rumors aren’t going to happen lol.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics lights out

“LO is the most consistent player that the Lakers have.” uh…. what?

  • boss

lakers are out of there mind the 6th man of the year and basicly the most consistant player after kobe bryant if anyone should be traded its bynum or fisher not odom smh

  • Overtime

I get where PatFondz is coming from, not entirely true but considering the other guys on the Lakers. Getting Young would be huge, but Lakers would have to give up too much

  • Riggs

“LO is the most consistent player that the Lakers have.” LMAO, you obviously don’t watch much laker games.

  • xavier

He must dont watch the lakers play if he said that…. Think the lakers should do it

  • angus

sixers….what are you thinking? if your gunna trade iggy get someone who can actually play

  • Yesse

Sounds good, but it’s hard to see Lamar Kardashian in another jersey than LA.

  • http://slamonline.com Tracy

How many of these trades are actually gonna happen? I’ll bet money only one of these rumors are true

  • Fat Lever

Sixers need cap relief first and foremost. Getting talent in return would be a plus. LO would be nice, for the simple fact that his contract comes off the books after next season(provided there is one). They’ll need to throw in another player to match salaries with Iguodala.

  • theballer

but khloe wouldn’t like philly now would she!?

  • showtime

I dont about that odem trade.. La just knows that window of opp is closing so that y their trying to dump salarie and go young. But that Minny to Philly is even steven. Philly get derrick and stays young with him jrue and evan. while Minny becomes a small beast of a team: Slick Rick ruler, Iggy, Super Cool Beasy, K.love. Wesley johnson. they may have a shot to make 8 in the west if it happens?

  • add

sounds good, but i think the lakers should throw in one more piece for dre

  • drew

LO and luke walton for iggy would be highway robbery for my lakers.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Interesting. Not sure if i like it. but none-the-less interesting.

  • http://slamonline.com biged

i dont agree with trading two for one. it should be two for two or Lakers give three (odom, artest, and a scrub or a pick) in return for two.

  • T-Money

i think it’s a bad trade for both teams, actually.

  • Red Star

I hope they talk to Kobe first! Lakers 4 Life!

  • will

kobe is not gonna be happy with that

  • rkirby

Bet if any of these trades happen, Khloe and Lamar have a special entitled: The Divorce, an hour long one of course. Things like that take time…

  • K- Fizzle

Yeah, I see this happening definitely. But, I could see the Sixers holding back because I think they would be worse wit Odom

  • T-Money

basically, odom can only play for three teams: l.a., miami and nyc. he will be miserable if he has to live anywhere else.

  • Beanzz

LO needs to stop with all the TV bull$hit and play ball… Lakers should keep him and start him at 3 move Artest old ass to bench , take a chance on Iverson on the cheap$$$$ to give us a scorer and point help add a PF/C via free agent and lakers be fine!!!! Only trade for Howard if you give up LO and Drew

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

I agree, bad trade for both LA and Philly. But I’d like to see Iggy go to Minny for the #2.

  • http://google c_cantrell

Not a good move, LO is fresh off a good season and has the length needed for L.A., being as one of thier advantages over other teams in the league is thier length and size. Though i would love to see Iggy on a better team, I believe he would be a better fit for the bulls.

  • KB8

    Stupid on both ends.

  • PatFondz

Should’ve been more clear; LO was the most consistent player THIS season by far for the Lakers. There’s a reason he won 6th Man of the Year.

  • hiphopcop

They say this trade is dead, zero happening from SI

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

This trade was never even realistic.

  • Kiba the cat

    Nooooo…!!!

  • Mary B L

Lakers need to keep Odom. Bynum is young and not ready to play seriously. There’s no way as tall as he is that he misses putting a ball into the basket with the net in his face. He needs to be more forceful and dominant with his space. He only plays like Shaq when he plays against Shaq. Be dominant and control your area. The bench needs to clear the players who don’t play. A strong bench along with the starters can reduce players minutes and keep fresh players in the game at all times. Like Kobe, Howard and Wade, play hard and consistent until the game is over or go play something else. This is the players JOB. Work together and get the job done. Should be LESS PLAY-LESS MONEY!
