Lakers, Suns Also Holding Free Agent Mini-Camps

In addition to the Atlanta Hawks, the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns are hosting free agent mini-camps in the hopes of finding some hidden gems. From the AZ Republic and ESPN: “The Suns are holding a free agent minicamp Wednesday to take a look at their first-round pick, Markieff Morris, and a mix of undrafted rookies as well as pros who have competed in Europe or the D-League. The most well-known name in the group is Sean Williams, the former first-round pick of New Jersey whose talent was offset by troubles that date back to when he was Jared Dudley’s teammate at Boston College.”

“The Los Angeles Lakers opened a two-day veteran minicamp on Tuesday with the hopes of finding a player or two they would be interested in signing for next season whenever that may be with a lockout likely to go into effect on Friday when the league’s current collective bargaining agreement expires. The Lakers invited 21 free agents to work out in front of general manager Mitch Kupchak and coach Mike Brown for a double session on Tuesday followed by a four and a half hour practice planned for Wednesday. Lakers draft picks Darius Morris, Ater Major and Andrew Goudelock got their first taste of life in purple and gold after participating in a mini camp on Tuesday. The group was highlighted by Darius Morris, Andrew Goudelock and Ater Majok, the Lakers’ three second-round selections from last week’s NBA draft, who got their first taste of life in purple and gold. It wasn’t the first time at the Lakers practice facility for Morris, who Los Angeles took with the No. 41 pick out of Michigan, however.”
