Pistons Interested in Mavs’ Assistant Coach Dwane Casey

According to the Detroit News, the Pistons are hoping some of Dwane Casey’s championshp mettle will rub off on them if they can convince him to jump ship: “Now that the NBA Finals are over, the Pistons will try to interview Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey, according to a source. The Pistons will have to get permission from Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson. Casey was the Timberwolves coach from 2005-07. He was fired after a 20-20 start in his second season. The Pistons have reached out to Mike Woodson, Kelvin Sampson, Lawrence Frank and Bill Laimbeer, among others.”

Why would the Pistons go after another assistant coach. Seemed like they would have learned their lesson by now, especially after the Curry and Kuester disasters. Until they decide to invest in a real head coach they will be headed for disaster.

they better be interested, he just won a title…winning culture too… like 11 str8 50 win seasons…had to learn something even if he was there only for a few years…

Dwane Casey got shafted in Minny… had a pooptastic team playing at .500 before he got canned. His greatest achievement there might have been keeping KG from murdering Ricky Davis and Mark Blount. If he can do that, a pouty Rip Hamilton ought to be child’s play.

Toronto is getting Casey. Detroit needs an experienced HC, like Frank.
