Report: Kemba Walker Cancels Workout with Fredette

College basketball’s two brightest stars were scheduled to workout head-to-head Thursday for the Kings. It would have been a valuable comparison for the Kings, who have the seventh pick in the Draft. But Walker’s agent must have concluded that Kemba has nothing to gain: “Earlier this week, it was reported that Kemba Walker would be working out against Jimmer Fredette in Sacramento for the Kings next week. That workout will be Thursday, June 9, a source told TheHoopsReport.com. But there’s only one problem: Kemba Walker won’t be there. Walker has pulled out of his scheduled Kings workout against Fredette, a source told TheHoopsReport.com. The workout will still go on as planned on Thursday with Fredette and a group of other players.”

He reminds me so much of Ben Gordon. And I heard Jimmer destroyed Nolan Smith in a workout. Its starting to seem like he mite be more then just hype.

  • Jer dawg

Its true. Won’t be first time stuff like this happens. People miss one another at one point. But don’t think being competitors that Jimmer won’t try and get Kemba or vice versa. Jimmer might see it as a sign of disrespect Kemba doesn’t want to prove his worth. And If Jimmer actually gets DRAFTED higher than Kemba; it’s so ON.

u scuuuured? this might boost jimmer’s stock

like when nobody wanted to work out against westbrook

so dude canceled a workout??? whats with the headline cancels workout with Fredette?? always trying to make a story out of nothing. I guess he canceled a workout with the other 15 cats that will be there too….By that logic I guess when he decided not to go to the Chicago combine he was deciding not to workout against Fredette…..smh, anyways he pays his agent all of that money for a reason

You guys are making Kemba out to be Floyd Mayweather or something lol; Fredette will get his when the season starts.

  • Devontae

haha nah but Kemba and Floyd both look terrified to go against the best. Jimmer Fredette is clearly a much better player than Kemba Walker is, I think everyone agrees on that, but still hard to understand why Kemba wouldn’t want to compete against the best guard.

  • fizzbucket

Fredette is ‘clearly a much better player’? Come on now.

  • rich

i have actually come around to agree with devonte, to be in the L unless ur a first or second option you need an nba skill( rebounding, shooting, defending uber athleticism ) kemba doesnt excell at any of those to be good unless he has a bunch of subpar players on his team. freddete can play off a star , personally id like to see him end up on a team with a big point guard who can defend the 2s and let fredette go around bustin jumpers

  • dune

I feel like Jimmer Fredette is going to go straight to the Tyler Hansbrough/JJ Redick bin. The rate that he shoots at 1) isn’t going to happen as a NBA rookie and 2) won’t be good for any team, really.

  • toinefan88

I don’t think either of them can do a thing to stop the other. But at the end of the day, you have two undersized scorers, but one is a better shooter. I just hope Jimmer stays humble and hungry and uses Adam Morrison as a cautionary tale.

Let me find out that Kemba Walker and/or his people are scared that Jimmer Fredette will have a negative impact on (Walker’s) his draft status, THUS his overall career path…
    Fredette must be the truth.
    Or Kemba isn’t.
    Shout out to Mark Price.

  • JTaylor21

Jiminy Cricket’s the better player? Where they do that at!

  • http://Slamonline.com Datkid

I only watched a little bit of the tournament this year…but at no point did jimmer look more athletic than kemba. It’s probably nothing

  • T-Money

rich: kemba has nba speed/quicks and an nba-ready step back jumper.

Jimmer Fredette is clearly a much better player than Kemba Walker is, I think everyone agrees on that

    Um, no.
And Kemba, if you scared say you scared!!

  • Devontae

@Rigo – my bad…those that watch and know basketball agree on that. My apologies, forgot!

  • fizzbucket

@Devontae: Those that “watch and know basketball” also understand that it takes more than hitting some jumpers to be a complete basketball player.

  • r2j

Both guys will make an impact in their rookie season. We’ll see who’s the best 10 years from now.

    @devontae is on crack lol

Usually guys start cancelling workouts with the bottom half of the lottery when they get an assurance from a team that they’re going to be that team’s pick. Sounds like Kemba got an assurance from a team that picks higher than 7th. I wouldn’t read too much into him cancelling a workout since it happens every year and will happen again this year when guys start getting assurances that they’re going to be picked in certain spots. Then, of course, we could end up seeing some crazy trade that blows this scenario up.

  • marc

jimmer is not clearly the better player. hes good dont get but i think both can have success in their future and trust kemba has nba ready moves and hes quick too. Dont sleep on him. He may not win rookie of the year or be an all star but he’s going to be a solid pro.

  • smoove

lol Fredette cleary a 1-dimensional player compared to Walker, and hes better?? lol..Oh and does Fredette know what defense is

  • MikeC.

@smoove – of course he knows what defense is. His version is giving up layups so he can run out for a 3. 3 is more than 2. I’m no scientician, but I think the Jimmer is on to something.

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

    LOL @ MikeC.
And I guess now I don’t watch and know basketball…hmm…what the hell I been watching these past 23 years?

I agree that when the season starts all the haters will be singing a different tune!
