Sixers, Warriors Discussing Monta Ellis/Andre Iguodala Trade?

ESPN and its sources claim that the Warriors and Sixers are in talks about possibly swapping Iggy for Monta. For what it’s worth, team advisor Jerry West says he doesn’t see this deal happening: “The Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers have discussed a trade that would send the Warriors’ leading scorer, Monta Ellis, to the 76ers for Andre Iguodala, according to league sources, including one with direct knowledge of Golden State’s thinking. One source stressed that completion of the deal is not imminent but that it has merits for both sides. The Warriors would beef up their perimeter size and defense with Iguodala, who is 6’6″ and 207 pounds and can play shooting guard or small forward. Iguodala would be paired with the 6’3″, 185-pound Stephen Curry at point guard and 6’9″ small forward Dorell Wright. The Sixers, meanwhile, would be getting an electric scoring guard in the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Ellis, create an opening at small forward for rookie Evan Turner, and slice some money off their payroll.”

…..you know I was thinking about this the other day, but its like Philly’s put all their hopes it seems into the development of Lou and Jrue….who gives a crap Philly needs a new AI! I’m all for it

althouh i want dre in orlando this is really good for both teams, philly needs buckets, gstate needs size and defense, i expect david lee and udoh to have a great season, if they draft dontas or Jonas in the draft they will be golden

i don’t really see how it benefits the 76ers, but hey, i don’t care, i don’t like anything about the 76ers except that they used to have iverson

Good trade. If it goes through.

I think Ellis should always play for a crappy team. So its fitting if he’s a bobcat

Looks good for both teams. GS gets a defensive player can can play both SG and SF (will likely move to SG thought since they already have Dorrell Wright) and Philly gets an offensive force that they were lacking in Iggy. Evan Turner in turn (haha) will slide into the starting line up. He can do a little of everything, hopefully he can develop a consistent 3 point shot though.

A trade that does a whole lot of nothing. Why would the Sixers do this?

I was just talking about GS getting rid of Ellis last night with my friend. This does more for both teams than it takes away. Make it happen?

Sixers are trying to corner the market on undersized combo guards. That’s that Madoff strategy right there.

Just playing, it makes sense if they plan on starting Thaddeus Young at the three and he can guard small forwards. If he can’t guard threes, then you will have in effect added two poor defenders to your starting lineup, and given other teams a guaranteed mismatch against your backourt every night. Also, you will likely have eroded the small amount of confidence Evan Turner built int he playoffs.

Screw this! I love monta, gsw just needs to be patient and see if Jackson can implement d into the team. Gsw has no problem scoring

Keep Iggy they dont need a scorer iggy is the point foward Monta wans to shoot. Iggy is the centerpiece of that team not a smaert trade
