Dwight Howard Wanted More Say in Orlando’s Trades

Dwight Howard tells 790 The Zone in Atlanta that he would’ve liked to be involved in the moves the Orlando Magic front-office made last season. From SRI: “How did you feel about the all the trades made last season to try to improve the Magic? ‘I wanted to be more part of the process a little more. I had to step out on the court and I wanted to make sure that the people I played with wanted to go out and play hard every night. My only issue was the fact that I didn’t really have a chance to be involved, but I think with the guys that we brought in we still have an excellent chance of winning, but we all have to be on the same page. I do miss a lot of the guys we traded. You know Marcin Gortat…I think he was very key since last season. Also Mickael Pietrus and Rashard Lewis and also Vince [Carter]. All of these guys are very key in our success and to see them go on the personal side it hurt, but I understand the NBA is a business and we have to keep going.’”

but…but…thats not in your job description, Dwight… who do you think you are? I would like more say in your post moves. I would like more say in your decision making on the court, all those turnovers…

@LP why would you more say in his post moves? And i think dwight should have a say since he could be leaving.

Players play…Most General Managers generally manage the team, in general. Don’t you think ORLANDO is trying their best to bring in players and make the appropriate moves??? Most GMs aren’t idiots, and money doesn’t grow on tree. Dwight is just lining up excuses to leave, can’t you see that???

  • marc

no i can’t see that lol. And honestly Orlando isnt trying hard enough.

involving the superstar of your team in decision making helps for him staying with the team in the long run as he feels more involved and connected with the future of the team IMO. not sure if Dwight can be the leader of a championship winning team though.

Dwight will never win a chip as the number one man – he aint no Hakeem.
He needs another superstar and be the second man before the chip will be coming his way.

Chris Paul running the team may work – probably wont though….
a move to chicago would be Dwights best hope

Why should they give him a say when he won’t even sign a long term deal? Why would they tailor the team the the likings of a guy who might be gone soon? What an idiot- you can’t have it both ways. Commit to the team and then they’ll listen to you. Besides, didn’t you demand that Vince and Rashard be traded? And, you’re a player, not a GM. It’s a good thing the Lakers didn’t listen to Kobe when he wanted Bynum traded for Jason Kidd.

Odom, Walton to Philly, Crawford and Williams to Orlando, Brand and Iggy to ATL, D12 AND HIBACHI TO LA. Make it happen.

Deron went oversees, so no luck for NJ. And that probably means lockout is gonna be “1999″ short seasoned
