NBA Reacts to Yao’s Retirement

Players and coaches respond to the big news.

When news that Yao Ming has played his last game in the NBA broke, many reacted—some in news outlets across the country, and others directly on Twitter. Below is a compilation of thoughts from various current and former players (and a couple of coaches), some who played alongside the center, and others who competed against him. We’ll miss you, big guy!

That pic of Shaq behind Yao is hilarious.

    Gonna miss watching dude play.
I hope he gets a gig with NBA TV or something. His english-speaking abilities are pretty good by now, and his sense of humor is criminally underrated.
And Battier’s tweet was long as hell. Sure it wasn’t a quote?

the jvg/Yao pic continues to amaze me. I always think that Jeff is standing further in the background (sorry if that doesn’t make any sense grammatically) but he isn’t.

Tell Charles to eat the head. Ming DyNASTY was sick with him and Stevie Franchise. Gonna miss the big dudes. Shaq and Ming.

Yao Ming will truly be miss by many including myself. He was not the most athletic specimen or the most dominant player that I ever watched played on the hardwood. But, Yao has surely made an impact on the game that I love. When healthy he was a game changer on offense and defense. There is not another BIG man in the modern era who can shoot the ball well specially in clutch moments.
