Andrew Bynum: ‘It’s Good to Know Everybody Wants Me’

The LA Times caught up with Andrew Bynum during his busy summer — he’s boxing, and learning to play the piano, among other things — who shrugs at any trade speculation: “Q: Ron Artest said he will play overseas during the lockout. Another team is trying to lure Kobe Bryant. Do you want to play over there? A: ‘No, I’ll stay here and stay in shape. [The lockout] seems bad, but I don’t think anyone wants to lose games. Player salaries aren’t the issue as much as people buying teams and arenas that have been devalued by the things that are part of everyone’s life now. We might miss training camp, but I think the season will start on time.’ Q: How have you endured speculation you’ll be traded, or replaced next year by free agent Dwight Howard? A: ‘It’s good to know everybody wants me; that means I’ll be in this game for some time. I like L.A., and don’t want to go anywhere else. It’d be good to stay in one place your whole career, and the Lakers are the most storied franchise in the league, everyone knows who the Lakers are, and I appreciate the Lakers’ love.’ Q: It sounds as if you’ve resolved to make fans forget how this last season ended? A: ‘I want to be the best player I can be. Having some successes, but not having them talked about, or having them overshadowed by other things … I’m past that. It’s all about winning championships. Working hard is the most important thing. People remember you only if you win. Period.”

Lakers are the most storied franchise!! celtics won 11 championships in the 50s/60s when there was like 10 professional teams!!! They didn’t do ishhh in the 70s or 90s n won 1 ring in 2008. get real Boston sucks go eat some clam chowder wit a weak Samuel adams

  • Yesse

He should wanna go play somewhere I guess he’s forgotten that when the lockout is over he’ll be losing $700K+ for his hit JJ Barea during the playoffs. Oppps my bad I forget these are NBA players who makes Millions of dollars he probably want even miss it, but he’ll have to pay taxes on it nonetheless.

Lakers truly are the most storied franchise! i heard about the bulls when i was a lil boy and once i saw #23, i knew he was special, then i heard about the lakers and their “laker girls”..i was like, how come a cheerleading squad is so famous?? Then i heard of magic, right after the cheerleading conversation and i was hooked right one…1991 nba finals, was and still one of my favorites! along with the 1996 finals, but that is another bulls story. The lakers dominated in the 70, and 80′ and also in the 2000′s. Air Mike is the official player of the decade for the 1990′s and in the 2000′s, is Kobe Bryant. Lakers won big time during the 2000′s, and dominated! you mad?

Who is the new Seed. Also Bynum as a true Laker fan, I want you traded so bad for Howard. Please Bynum request for a trade, don’t forget Bynum, Kobe wanted you out a few years back for Kidd. BOOK IT!!

I’m content either way between Bynum and Howard. It’s kind of like Chicago with Noah in the middle. Yes I want Howard to be the starting Center for the Lakers, but we have won with Bynum in the middle. (and with him not there at all) So either way I think the Lakers can win it all. But uh ya… I’ll take Howard. But honestly I would not mind seeing him make a team that’s average to below average and make them into contenders. Clippers, ATL, Houston. He could do allot for some other teams.

    Whats that NBK?

  • Landry_legend

Dwight is going to the hawks with his BFF J.SMoove

IMO If they can’t get Dwight go after Chris Paul. Idk though really, i just know a team that gets swept with Phil Jackson as the coach is noT in good shape in the future winnin a title with Mike Brown (anyone not named phil jackson is a massive downgrade). Especially without adding anyone, and having your best player declining with age (even if he’s still a top player). IF Bynum can stay healthy a whole season+playoff run i can see him turning into a top 5 player and opening up Kobe to do what he’s (over his career) best at, i just dont think thats gonna happen. But we’ll see i may be wrong

Woah Seed, u want Howard for Bynum?. I like Howard but i think our front court is just fine, even thou Gasol looked like he plays in tha WNBA in tha Mavs series. He wont come back like that next year. I would rather see Howard stay in Orlando n get help or go to Chicago

  • http://slamonline.com Tae

I would be sooooo pissed if Phil came backed and coached another team
