Chris Mullin: Warriors Should Retire ‘Run TMC’ Jerseys

Chris Mullin is headed into the Hall of Fame, and he’d like for the Golden State Warriors to honor not just himself, but also Tim Hardaway and Mitch RIchmond (who formed the gloriously entertaining Run TMC crew.) From the Mercury News: “It was only (a couple of) years, but it seemed longer,’ Mullin said. ‘Had a long-lasting feel to it.’ To that point, Mullin has another idea that encapsulates the full sense and camaraderie of Run TMC, a thrill show that was cut short before its third season when Richmond was traded to Sacramento for Billy Owens on opening night in 1991. After Mullin was elected to the Hall, new Warriors owner Joe Lacob logically declared that the franchise would retire Mullin’s No. 17 at a future date. Mullin suggests retiring all three jersey numbers at the same time — Run TMC lifted into the rafters at Oracle Arena in one unifying, thunderous moment? ‘I would like that,’ Mullin said this week. ‘I think the fans would like it, too. … To me, it doesn’t always have to be about one person. I know I’d feel more comfortable. That would feel natural to me.’”

I’d love to see this happen. Then I’d love to see Mullin, Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway suit up. Give them two big fellas who’ll run and rebound and they’ll put up 130 easy.

I agree. You don’t need to win the chip to be worthy of having your jersey retired. There’s a few more numbers throughout the league that need to be immortalized.

true that! put them all up there!!

I think it’s a good idea. Plus the only other thing from the 90′s for GS to remember his Latrell choking P.J. — Maybe retire some golden hands around a statue of P.J’s head and neck? haha

@nbk, I’m sure when Spree finally goes broke, we’ll see it at his auction.

Oh he’s broke already. Apparently he’s famous in Wisconsin for not paying taxes.

I think this is a great IDEA, Mullin showing he not out for just glory for himself.

Yeah, but what does his accent think about it?
@nbk – Spree currently owns the distinction of being the number one delinquent taxpayer in the state of Wisconsin, owes about $3,533,426.49 in back income taxes, according to Wikipedia.
