Heart of Chi-City
Which NBA player is the heart of his city?

Many players rep their city, but who exactly reps their city the hardest? Which player can you catch at a local playground playing pick up with local ballers? What player is continuously giving back and showing love to the city he once called home?
We thought it might be a good idea to spotlight the players who rep their city the hardest while giving back to their communities.
And the player who reps his city the hardest coming out of Chicago would have to be Shannon Brown. Being a Chicago native, I have had many opportunities to catch the two-time NBA champ at local events and even though I was just an intern for a small publication (shout out to True Star Foundation) he always made time to chop it up with your girl. Aside from showing me love, every summer he gives back to his city by hosting a basketball camp designed to help young players develop their basketball skills while teaching them some important life lessons.
Next time you’re in the city, make sure you keep an eye out. You might catch him at the local gym playing basketball or at Harold’s getting that famous fried chicken with some mild sauce. From Los Angeles to Chicago. Shannon Brown remains a true Chicago native no matter where he goes. Showing love to his city while making a difference in our communities. He is truly the heart of my city.
And like Kanye West once said, “I’m a Chicagoan ‘til Chicago ends ‘til we blow like Chicago wind.” Shannon Brown will always show love to the city that has his heart no matter where the basketball world takes him.
