Javaris Crittenton Wanted For Murder

Shocking news out of Georgia involving former NBA player Javaris Crittenton—he’s wanted in the homicide death of a 23-year-old Atlanta woman. From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “When he saw the person he believed robbed him, a former NBA player and Georgia Tech standout fired gunshots from a black SUV, striking a 23-year-old mother of four, Atlanta police said. Now, Javaris Crittenton, 23, faces a murder charge in the death of Jullian Jones, authorities said Friday night. ‘It appears Mr. Crittenton observed who he thought was the perpetrator walking down the street,’ Major Keith Meadows told the AJC. ‘It so happens Miss Jones was walking down the street at the same time.’ Jones was walking with others near her Macon Drive home in southwest Atlanta around 10 p.m. Aug. 19 when she was shot, police said. Several witnesses told police the shots were fired from a black Chevrolet Tahoe. Jones was struck in the leg and later died during surgery. Two men walking with Jones fled and were not injured, and investigators now believe one of those men was the intended target. Investigators believe Crittenton may have been seeking retaliation after being robbed of his jewelry April 21, Meadows said. Crittenton reported that crime to police. Crittenton is not in custody and is believed to be in the greater Los Angeles area, Meadows said. Atlanta detectives are working with the FBI to take him into custody.”

^ Not the right reaction to four children having to grow up motherless.

  • tdot

This guy is a moron. Seriously. You would think getting kicked out of the NB f*king A would make you clean up your act.

23? Man, it seems like he’s been in the league forever. He went one and done at Georgia Tech, “played” for the Lakers, then the whole gun thing. Now this. Man, he’s lived a lifetime in like five years. I feel bad for those children that have a mother that was gunned down on accident.

Couldn’t shoot a jumper with accuracy.
Can’t shoot a gun with accuracy.

  • nathan

shooting a gun and shooting a jumper are completely different. dumb joke. This is very sad.

    It wasn’t a joke.

  • http://philosopher.view@blogspot.com The Philosopher

And no one ever said that shooting guns and jumpers aren’t different.
    Get over yourself.

  • MikeC.

@Phil – I see you on that. Both simply statements of fact.
@Javaris Crittenton – enjoy Federal Pound Me In The @ss prison. Idiot.

So was he allowed to skip Turn The Other Cheek 101 at SACA?

  • D.O.

Prayin’ for her poor family and kids. More than just getting caught and punished, I hope Javaris realizes what he’s done. That’s the only punishement that will ever fit the crime.

And we wonder where the bad stereotypes of the NBA come from…

  • http://twitter.com/#!/MichaelJR_NZ Michael NZ

    Still only 23 too. Sad.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Sad news for the innocent woman’s family.. Javaris is indeeed an idiot, and the law WILL catch-up to him.. But really, who dies from a GSW to the leg??

  • http://philosopher.view@blogspot.com The Philosopher

    @Boss Terry:
There are arteries in the back of the leg.
    If you are hit there…

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

^ You gotta be kidding me. If you get shot in the leg and it hits your femoral artery you likely die. Sean Taylor (Miami Hurricanes/ Washington Redskins free safety) died that way. God bless the children who lost their mother.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

I know, just seems kinda uncommon… Didnt mean any disrespect, still a sad situation..

  • http://thahiphopcorner.com Kevin

SMH this n*gga here….and yes he is a n*gga. I aint got no respect for a dude that kill a 23-year old mother in the street and on top of that he didnt even hit who he was aiming at. F**k this punk, I hope he dont ever see the light of day

    Co-sign Orange and Boss Terry.

No one should be making any jokes about this. I’m not gonna gang up on Javaris until a verdict is passed, but if this is true… I really didn’t see a guy like Javaris getting into anything like this. You don’t expect this from any NBA player, but the gun thing notwithstanding, I’m still extra shocked he’d even be a suspect.

  • Allenp

This is not where stereotypes come from. Stereotypes cmd from laziness and/or prejudice.
But man this was tragic when I first heard about it and so senseless. Shooting someone over a robbery is stupid unless you are a full blown criminal. Everybody loses in this case but that woman’s family lost the most.

  • rich

@Jukai i agree with you, i wouldnt even expect this from an nfl player and those guys are in legal trouble more often than nba guys. the whole senario makes no sense to me though. what would he drive-by a woman for? if he owed him money i dont think he would shoot her over it. I know it was the wrong person he shot but why would he have anyone to shoot. all the has to do to make himself happy is watch film of actual guards and work on his jumper and conditioning. this sillieness seems below an nba player and while im sure he knows who did this, I dont believe he is the one who shot this woman until i hear some evidence

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

It does just seem like such an out of character thing for someone with a pro basketball career. Its not like he was banned from the league and had to resort to a life of crime. Its just a shame that a life is lost over some freakin jewelry.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

rich: According to the police report, they believe Javaris saw a person who had robbed him earlier in the year… Javaris filed a police report about the issue and the police noted he was upset and delivered some “I want to find this guy myself” type threats.
When Jaravis believed he found the man, he rolled up in a car and fired his weapon out the window at the person, but missed and hit a woman (who may have been with the suspect). The woman bled to death.
I have no idea what evidence they have, and Javaris may very well be vindicated from this in the end, but it is very scary stuff.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

And Arenas’ tweet is just ugh. Stay silent, you sh*t head.

  • Yesse

I really wonder what is going through Crittenton’s head.

  • fish sticks

wtf is wrong with this country when people’s first reaction is to start shooting.

  • Matul

@fish sticks: that’s because regular people in your country can carry guns. Not trying to start anything, just pointing out the elephant in the room.

  • EJ

Why do rich people have to act ghetto? What a punk.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

How the hell does somebody act “ghetto”? I know plenty of people from the “ghetto” and none of them have ever resorted to killing an innocent woman.

  • OneStep

Now perhaps we have some perspective on the Arenas-Crittenton locker room gun incident. I was one of those who thought the league were right to come down hard on both players because of the seriousness of such behaviour. Here we have what seems like proof that joking around with guns and treating guns like just another personal effect often leads to a dulled sense of their life-threatening capabilites. There is little the NBA can do to educate its employees about the dangers of guns if those people are deaf to such teachings. They really only have one avenue of action in the circumstances and that is to come down hard and attempt to expel the problem from the league.

Don’t you worry. Nancy Grace at the crack staff at CNN/HLN will not rest a wink until Jullian Jones’ alleged murderer is apprehended and brought to justice. The mother of 4 tots is dead, so Nancy will be compelled to have reporters and investigators and bounty hunters scouring both sides of the continent in the search for Javaris Crittenton.

Wait, what’s that? Ms. Jones is not WHAT? Oh… well, scratch that. Never mind!

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

    Is not white?

  • http://slamonline.com Neitel

@Javaris Crittenton – with all them millions of dollars, or thousands…how did you managed to get caught? Now, use those millions, or thousands to leave the country and be ready to live on the run…why didnt you just think with your damn brain did a smart kill, instead, you killed an innocent mother of four, and whoever stole your damn jewels (which you could afford more) are laughing right now, knowing you wont be able to kill him or catch him again, instead the FBI, Homeland Security, and Central Terrorist Agency along with agent Flowers, are looking for yo’ ass and will kick you in the nuts!!!

enjoy your time in prison kid…should’ve thought with your head, not with your gun. tool.

  • http://www.slamonline.com UNFROZEN CAVEMAN LAWYER

“IN BMORE, WE AIM TO HIT A NUCCA, YA HEARD” ……………JAVARIS IS DUMB FOR SO MANY REASONS

  • BostonBaller

Sad on both sides…wasted life with idiotic decisions for some time and a life taken too soon that effects children…be careful who your kids hang around…simply a sad affair. Prayers go up

  • BostonBaller

wow…”a smart kill”? “live on the run”? “we aim to hit”? this is part of the larger problem in general. pull your pants up from around your thighs and buy a clue….WOW

  • EJ

This story sounds pretty ghetto to me. Somebody stole your jewerly, and you just drive by and shoot somebody. That’s pretty ghetto, like “gangsta ghetto”, not just regular poor people.

  • B-More Mike

Sean Taylor died from a leg shot, It’s possible. I remember watching Crit in the Mcdonald’s game & hearing he was going 2 Tech as a devout Tarheeel fan I was actually a little nervous cause the kid was a problem on the court. Then he gets drafted by my Lakers I thought this kid was going 2 take fisher spot. But that’s all distant now. Condolences 2 the woman’s family & especially the 4 kids who now have 2 face life without their Mom.
