Report: Matt Barnes Punched a Guy During Pro-Am Game


We go from Michael Beasley hilariously face-mushing a fan, to Matt Barnes reportedly punching an opponent during a Pro-Am game in San Fransisco. From USA Today: “According to a brief report from KGO-TV, during a Pro-Am game between Barnes’ Dream Team and East Bay at the Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco, Barnes punched a member of the East Bay team. But since an official didn’t catch the altercation, play continued after a break and Barnes was not ejected. As of Friday morning, it appears no one has posted a video of the punch, but one fan at the game did capture the incident’s aftermath and members of both teams retreating to their own benches.”

    he’s done this before though, and he is known around bay area tourneys with having a short fuse. Most of these NBA players are going to find out though, that there are some people you can’t do this to.

    matt barnes has been like this since his ucla days. really, really short fuse. but riggs is partially right, some dudes do not care about celeb status and will hurt you – however, those dudes don’t play pro-am.

    I was at the game last night. The punch came in the second quarter. Barnes was acting like a jackass long before that. He just didn’t like the fact that some JUCO kid from Marin County was actually trying to defend him. Barnes and his pack of howling sycophants in the stands basically showed no respect for the game or the other players on the court. It was all about him feeding an ego based on picking on some kid. It would be like a senior in high school thinking he’s tough for beating up his 6th grade brother, and all his friends telling him “oh yeah, dude, you kicked his ass good!”

    It was a f****** joke. So much of what is wrong with out culture right there in an innocent Pro-Am summer game. Oh well.

    I was at the game and Barnes was dogging it all night…then out of nowhere ges into it with this skinny little white kid. Ends up punching him in the face and hitting the ref in the face on the counter punch. So, judging by the gash over the ref’s eye, I’m guessing he saw it…what a douche. 100% thug…

    First of all clearly the ppl that say they were actually at the game obviously didn’t see wut happened before the punch. The skinny white boy went to box out Cardell by putting a forearm in his throat. Then the very next play he tried that on Matt. Matt pushed the whiteboy off him and he retaliated by 2 hand shoving Matt. Then Matt stole on him….period….that’s wut happened…its funny how every1 was booing Matt but when he hit the game winner everyone was jumping around and screaming as seen on the video.
