Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert Unhappy With NBA ‘Bloggissists’

A media report yesterday claimed that Cleveland’s Dan Gilbert (along with the Suns’ Robert Sarver) were two of the owners strongly opposed to meeting the NBA players’ association halfway during negotiations. Gilbert used Twitter to express his unhappiness with the media. The Plain Dealer breaks it down: “Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert used his Twitter account last night to angrily respond to reports that he helped derail potential progress in the NBA labor negotiations. In the process, it appears he also invented a word to describe his online detractors. ‘Some of these NBA ‘bloggissists’ flat-out make stuff up and hen try to dupe readers into believing their fiction is real. Sad & pathetic,’ Gilbert wrote. An ESPN.com story, citing anonymous sources, stated that Gilbert and Phoenix’s Robert Sarver expressed discontent with many points of a proposal from the players union during a meeting Tuesday in New York. According to the report, owners were seriously considering ‘coming off their demands for a salary freeze and would allow players’ future earnings to be tied into the league’s revenue growth, a critical point for players. The owners also were willing to allow the players to maintain their current salaries without rollbacks,’ sources said.”

Portmanteau of narcissist and blogger. I like it.

Dude is a clown. Everyone knows he’s one of the owners stalling after LeBron “no vaselined” him.

Sad and pathetic? Oh, just like the teams the Cavs put around LeBron and that letter he wrote to Cavs fans after the decision. Guess he knows something about sad and pathetic. Also, didn’t he say the Cavs would win a ring before LeBron in that letter? In now way shape or form is he making something up and trying to dupe Cavs fans into believing it.

Sad & Pathetic, ironically those are the words that come to my mind whenever I hear ‘Dan Gilbert’

#Co-signed MUBWAR. Seems that even with money you can still manage to be a whiney little dweeb!

  • S18

I think he was referring to Bill Simmons who went off on him and the others. But Bill is right, Gilbert wasn’t complaining when Lebron increased the Cav’s value by some insane amount (I think it was like 150 million or something like that) but now he’s crying help?!?

Some cities shouldn’t have teams, not cause their bad places but they just can’t afford to have a team there. if you can’t get enough people to watch, and can’t afford everything else, then just contract. There are atleast 6 teams too many. Seriously, if there were fewer teams then there would be more high quality games meaning more excitement to watch games which leads to more people coming to the game, more ratings on tv, more sponsorships etc.

    The 80′s had it right.

I feel there’s a fine line between the antics of Gilbert and Cuban.

    Dan the man!

  • Bmack

Yeah I never liked Dan Gilbert, and I really felt that letter he wrote should of opened more eyes to how big of a D-bag he is.

  • JEr dawg

Hearing reports like this about owners being d-bags and being totally unreasonable what real superstar in their right mind would want to stay there knowing they shafting their pay? Gilbert is being hard ass now. I thought he was really awesome accommodating to LeBron then, but he just plain crazy now. Cleveland and Phoenix aren’t on players radar anymore if ownership are nothing but pricks.

So who’s worse: Dan Gilbert or Donald Sterling?

  • SwissArmyKnife5

    @Caboose Dan Gilbert

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Seriously? Dan Gilbert is an egotistical idiot who whines when he doesn’t get his way.
Donald Sterling is a straight up racist who probably sees the LA Clippers as his own personal plantation.
And you’re gonna say Gilbert is worse?
Even if we’re talking strictly who’s worse as an NBA owner, Sterling still wins by a mile.

Noone, nobody at all, should by season tickets to the Suns or Cavs. I mean we have watched these owners force decisions and basically run their franchises out of contention, now they are trying to change the whole financial structure of the NBA so that the Owners receive a higher % of money then they f*cking PRODUCT. If you owned Dryers Ice Cream you would not spend more money on your own salary then you would on actual ice cream now would you?

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Chris Broussard has more credibility than Dan Gilbert

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Sterling is a racist prick, who also fires employees with cancer and vists prostitutes. Gilbert is a just incredibly arrogant and whiny. Sterling is the worst owner in the League, EASILY. He has no peers.

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

Enig and Allen know what’s up. Like usual.

  • http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/31941/digging-deep-to-share-revenue nbk

Sterling is horrid, but he isn’t why the season will be pushed back. I’m fuming

  • jayb

dan is a douschebag…stern should rip the franchise from him and we can end the lock out! soft cap with rev sharing from big market teams! lets end this!!!

  • Heals

Gilbert is sooo loathesome, I think S18 is right about BSimms being the main target because of his dead-on tweets about the lockout. I’m so happy he and Sarver are the leaders of the new school owners pushing to miss a whole season. Not only will they cost LAL, Chi, Dal, Mia, NYK, Bos, Orl, SA, etc a title run, but they also want those franchises to share revenue to help support their penny pinching approach to owning a team…

  • bike

So maybe there might be a rift among the owners after all? Then again, you always wonder about ESPN’s ‘anonymous sources’.
