Gridiron to the Hardwood

A gallery of NFL Players putting in work on the court.

by Peter Walsh | @goinginsquad

With the NFL back in full swing, here’s a look at a few players who excelled on the hardwood as well. Pigskin enthusiasts should recognize that stars such as Donovan McNabb, Julius Peppers and Antonio Gates all played a role on some very successful teams during their college days. Even years removed from the game, it’d still be entertaining to see these guys go at it during off-season pick up games. Peep the gallery above and check for the ballers at the end who also showcased their talents on the gridiron in their younger, more formidable years.

    @Spaceship Jay

    Regardless of decision, still my favorite Knick pg of all time

  • LA Huey

    Ward knew he couldn’t escape the Heisman curse.

    It’s incredible how talented A.I. was on both sports.

    Really Peter? That’s Uhh… Interesting. Mark Jackson? Walt Frazier? I’m not judging, that’s just surprising.

    I’d take Julius Peppers over Carlos Boozer on the Bulls any day.
    Not a better player, but tougher and has more heart.
    Plus, UNC > Duke.
    Ask the greatest Bull ever.

    @Spaceship Jay I’m only 24, my fondest Knick memories include Ward running the point

    I was dissapointed when Peppers decided to stick with football. I believed he could’ve carved himself out a pretty nice, long career in the L. Im not saying he would’ve been an All-Star or anything like that, but with his size, rugged and tough physical play he displayed, he would’ve been coveted by many teams. But can’t blame him for his decision. Obviously, he’s doing quite well.

    Charlie was small for the position and black. He wasgoing straight to the cfl like moon. He made the right decision.

    Twelve seasons in the NBA. About $34 million in salary. I’d say he made a wise decision.
