Kemba Walker ‘Angry’ About NBA Lockout

Get in line, Kemba Walker. Everyone‘s angry about the NBA lockout. The Washington Times has details of Kemba’s beef: “As Walker took the court in the summer league Clash of the Superstars with his white-shirted teammates Saturday, Goodman League commissioner Miles Rawls continued his usual comedian-style running commentary as the game’s announced. ‘Kemba Walker,’ Rawls called out as Walker connected on a jumper. ‘He has yet to get a paycheck. He’s mad as hell.’ The crowd laughed. A few players laughed, including Walker. It was a rueful laugh, one that signified irony rather than humor. What Rawls did not know what that barely an hour earlier, Walker was asked to sum up his feelings about the lockout in one word. ‘Angry,’ Walker said. ‘I’m angry because I can’t do anything. I can’t talk to my team, I can’t talk to my coaching staff and start learning things from them, I can’t get involved with the team at all. It pretty much [stinks]. ‘I would like to get acclimated to the NBA game. I know there’s a big difference from college to the NBA, so not getting a chance to learn, it’s pretty hard.’ … ‘I’ve been thinking about it [playing overseas] lately. I don’t really want to because I don’t know if I want to go so far away,’ Walker said. ‘But if it’s something that has to be done, it could be possible, depending how long we go into this lockout. I just want to play basketball.’”

Kemba doesn’t sound like he really cares too much about the future of the nba and welfare of the players. Wonder how many other players feel the same way?

  • bull22

@bike, how do you figure??? he wants to play ball…. you talk as if these guys are making $10.00 a game. these guys make money playing a game we play for free.

Knick fans are on crack. Not every player wants to play for NY, y’all do know that, right?

I’m pretty sure Kemba, being a Bronx native, would actually love nothing more than to play for the Knicks.

@bike I don’t think Kemba making that statement means he doesn’t want the players to get a fair shake at the bargaining table. But he’s a rookie, he’s yet to play an NBA game so he’s probably taking the lockout a lot harder than the veteran players who have seen it all before.

Kemba just wants to learn the NBA game and the lockout hurts his familiarty and time to learn nuances of the game. He would go to Europe to hone those skills if he had to. He is a rookie and why should the players have to be doing this in the first place? They are basketball players with usually no business knowledge. Give him a break. Hopefully the older players will help him learn faster. They should be the ones invested in the team already. Kemba and the rookies haven’t been on a team.

The point is there are probably big differences in how nba players really feel about the lockout. Rookies and mid to low level-salary players with only a couple of years left to play would likely want this lockout to end however possible. They may not be able to afford a lost season. The well established veteran stars can afford to let the season go.

    ^And who have made money.

  • Drew

I honestly don’t feel any sympathy for the rookies or the mid-level and low-level salary players. Even the low-level salary players make more annually then I make over a few years. They need to learn how to manage their finances.

Drew: The rookies? The ones who haven’t gotten paid to play yet? I didn’t know your annual salary was 0.

Kemba: I want to play ball! I’m angry!
Ray Allen: shut the f*ck up. We riding out the season if need be.
    Kemba:…ok…sorry……go UConn?
    Ray Allen: shut up, rook.

Ray Allen: “Why are you talking to reporters rook?”
    Kemba: “Well they had asked…”
Ray Allen: “Shut up. When you need an opinion, you ask me. You want to be stuck with a non-guaranteed contract like those bums in the NFL while the coaches, general manages and broadcasters who only have a job because of what you do on the court all get to keep their guaranteed deals?”
Kemba: “Well no. But I thought…”
Ray Allen: “First mistake. You don’t think. You obey and shut your mouth. Now get my Gatorade.”
    Kemba: “Sure Ray.”
    Ray Allen: “Mr. Allen.”
    Kemba: “What?”
    Ray Allen: “Mr. Allen.”
Kemba: “Oh, ok. Sure, Mr. Allen”

Kemba (later, thinking out loud about what Ray said to him):” God, what an as%hole”.

  • poohead

Go ask ray allen for a loan

loooool that was nice. But common Ray has 16 years of savings in his accounts. Kemba hasn’t even seen the half a mill rookie contract.
