Kevin Garnett: ‘I Was Pretty Close’ to Being a Laker

Kevin Garnett just spent a few minutes on The Dan Patrick Show. And though audio isn’t available online yet (Audio is now available.) Here’s some of what Kev had to say:

On the Lockout: “At the end of the day common ground will be found. This game is too beautiful… I can’t see just throwing away the season… But if we do do that, both sides are prepared for that.”

On if he’s talked with Boston about contract extension: “Truthfully, no, I haven’t. Danny [Ainge], I think, in passing, in joking moments that we have, will throw something up in the air and be funny and we’ll laugh at it. But it’s nothing concrete, no.”

On how close he was to ending up a Laker and not a Celtic in the Summer of 2007: “I was pretty close, to be honest….Kob[e Bryant] and Phil [Jackson] at the time were at each other pretty bad. The situation was full of uncertainty. It wasn’t something I wanted to get into… It was my choice not to go to the Lakers.”

On playing with Shaquille O’Neal, and the 2010-11 season in general: “It was truly an honor to play alongside dude (Shaq). It was totally an experience. This year was the probably most fun I’ve had in a long time in the NBA, straight up.”

Jukai what’s your opinion of Israel? I remember you saying you’ve lived there before right?

  • http://dfklf.com Jukai

Teddy: Well, I lived there for several months. I used to be an unmoving supporter of Israel, but the country has had a string of horrendous leaders, now cherry topped with the dangerous Netanyahu. I haven’t been a fan of their politics in a while. Why do you ask?

    Enigmatic:
We weren’t “going at it”. My bad on the bad terminology.
I was humiliating c_cantrell, and then you and I began speaking Spanish.
Tarzan was on that thread, too.

DRose = PG + DWade = SG, works for me. It’s different than LBJ & Wade, Rose is a true point who can score and can be very unselfish & can recognize each situation down court and make smart decisions for everyone.

I agree w/ AllenP way up there w/ the KG was better offensively by way of producing in his situation as compared to Gasol’s. Sieves….lol, good word but a bit harsh, not real harsh just a bit. PDouble AND Ray can play D as evident by the work they put in during playoff runs and their coverage of the likes of LBJ & Kobe. IMO. KG still does have better D than most guys and again allenP hit it on the head by stating it “looked” like he slipped b/c of his having to be everywhere all the time. sieves. hahhahaha best line yet.
