Report: Amar’e Stoudemire is Only ’90 Percent Healthy’

The NY Daily News has a report that’s not exactly what Knicks fans are looking to hear this morning. According to the newspaper, STAT isn’t all the way healthy just yet. We’ll let them take it away: “Amar’e Stoudemire could be hurt financially if the NBA season is shortened due to the lockout, but pushing back the start of the season would do wonders for his physical well-being. Stoudemire has not fully recovered from a back injury he suffered before Game 2 of the Knicks’ first-round series against Boston last April. A Knicks source claims that Stoudemire is approximately ’90% healthy’ but couldn’t guarantee that the six-time All-Star would be available if the NBA season begins on time. Stoudemire, who took most of July off to rest his back, is scheduled to resume workouts in Florida within the next couple of weeks. Because of the lockout, Stoudemire is prohibited from working with the Knicks training staff. He has, however, stayed active in other ways. Stoudemire made a cameo in the most recent episode of ‘Entourage’ and has an event scheduled for today at the Polo Grounds Community Center. In June, Stoudemire admitted to reporters he was ‘sore’ and a ‘bit tight.’”

Get that back right Stat. Back injuries aren’t something to mess around with.

  • RunNGun

If Walsh was around, he’d make it happen… that is make A’mare 100%.

D’Antoni played Amar’e more minutes then he ever has in his career last year. The Suns (best medical staff of any professional sports team) wouldn’t approve signing him to any contract longer then 4 years. I mean, it is pretty clear that this guys body isn’t going to hold up.

and once Amar’e start looking like al harington, it’s the old nuggets squad all over again with Melo bombing shots left and right

  • bull22

does not matter, healthy or not. lousy defender who can only score and is not winning an nba title next year…….. the knicks will not make a title happen anytime soon, LOL.

  • LA Huey

    Poor NYK fans…

  • landry_Legend

bull22, I’d like to see u say that when CP3 comes to NY…why do u think they picked up billups 14mill option….

lnadry the knicks don’t a superstar PG. You guys need a decent to good defender in every position but Landry field’s(n it’s sad he just a rook), a bench and a new head coach. Then maybe they might challenge the Heat for the East

Landry is still right, that is the reason they picked up Billups option. They fully plan on trading him in an attempt to get Chris Paul or Deron Williams (not likely, but if New Jersey doesn’t want to rent him for nothing they may have to examine trades).

  • LA Huey

All signs point to CP3 joining Melo and STAT.

  • bull22

@landry_legend i will say it right now, “even if they get CP3 they still won’t win a title.. it takes more then talent to win a title, i respect CP3′s game, but the problem is i dont see MELO or STOUDEMIRE listening to him when he yells at them to play defense…

Stat’s health has been a concern for the past few years. Between his knees, eyes and back, there is no telling if how many decent years he has in front of him. IF CP3 get’s there soon, they may have a chance to win a chip, but I see that window closing fast.

  • bull22

funny how many of you knick fans are talking about CP3 joining the knicks next year , which means you all know you wont be winning a title this season….
hahahahahahhaha and that message i approve! LOL

  • MikeC.

@bull22 – there’s this little issue going on with the league at the moment. The issue is likely to cancel the season. I’m pretty sure it’s called a lockout, but I could be wrong since there’s been so little reporting on it.

  • Showtime

Yeah if i was knicks fan, which im not , this dont look good Stat is at the slope of his prime, so his history of injuries and length it taking to get over back spasms…doest look too good for that 100 mill investment.

    Ol’ Amare.
    Blake’s better…

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

Funny to see so much taunting about a team not winning a title next year coming from a Bulls fan…

blake, love, gasol, bosh, L.A. and randolph are all better then him.

  • harlem_world

MUBWAR – Only PF’s on your list I’d consider trading STAT for are Blake (no-brainer) and L.A (still not 100% sold on that trade though). Love isn’t better than Amare. Period. Bosh is too feminine to put on a NY jersey. We’ve been there and done that with Z-Bo and Amare is playing better in NY than he did. Gasol…maybe, but still think he’s too weak to carry the spotlight Amare can carry.

    Where the F is DIRK?!?

Max, that big german toyed with my team in the finals so it might take a little time to acknowledged him

  • LA Huey

^Agreed. Also, leading your team past the Lakers, Thunder, and Heat as your team’s sole All-Star on your team means you’re pretty much a given.

  • RunNGun

LMAO at all the comments about CP3 joining the Knicks. An oft-injured A’mare and oft-injured CP3 joining forces with Melo. What a joke of a team the Knicks are.

Man these bulls bandwagon “fans” are hilarious. Let’s be real: the only real fans of the game, who happen to root exclusively for the bulls that regularly comment on these threads are enigmatic, and bryan crawford, this bull22 character is a caricature of a true fan, the bulls’ answer to the seed (the resident lakers homer) or the philosopher/jtaylor21 (the resident lebron lovers). Even tho I don’t believe the knicks will win it all next season (if only there WAS a season–dam lockout!), the bottom line is nyc still owns chicago in every way imaginable bull22…

  • Fat Lever

In Amar’e's defense…wait, he doesn’t play defense. Oops!
