LeBron, ‘Melo, CP3 Out of ‘World All-Star Classic’

Some of the NBA’s biggest names have bowed out of the World All-Star Classic, and even though the barnstorming tour will start in Puerto Rico on Sunday, there are doubts about it going forward (sound familiar?) Per ESPN: “Organizers say Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Dwyane Wade are expected to headline an exhibition basketball game in Puerto Rico on Sunday. According to a press release, the World All-Star Classic also will feature Amare Stoudemire, Blake Griffin, Carlos Boozer, Chris Kaman, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Tyson Chandler. However, All-Stars LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, originally slated to help headline the tour, have decided not to take part, sources with knowledge of the situation said. Durant is also wavering on playing in the entire tour, sources close to tour organizers said. The players were originally slated to travel across four continents with stops in London, Macau and Melbourne, Australia, but the defections have put those stops in jeapordy, a source said. The Puerto Rico game is a go in part due to brisk ticket sales, according to the source. James, Anthony and Paul made their decisions together after consulting with one another over the past week. The players wanted to use the lockout to spend more time with their families, sources said. The trio is somewhat hopeful that an NBA season can begin shortly, sources said.”

It amazes me that Lbj aint playin for NY right now w/ the way he’s so chummy w/ Melo & Cp3 … Cp3 to NY lol .. Just imagine if they already had LebBron ?? Hmmm

I love how LeBron just lets other smarter but lesser players influence him. Maybe he shoulda gone to college during the summers. He’d have an associates degree by now…

Man, what a bummer; I’m seriously considering not going, barring ticket prices, that is.

I am glad Wade is not dumb of enough to listen to Lebron agents, mom and kids tell him not to play basketball. Lebron can waste time playing in street-ball games, flag football, practice football with his old school do McDonald’s commercials, but cannot not play basketball with other stars. Priceless BOOK IT!!

Who are these sources that told Broussard this? And the whole “spend time with family” thing is bogus. You’ve been travelling all summer and now, when the season would have been starting, you decide its time to stay home with family?

I don’t know why so many are hating on this move. I imagine if I were laid off work, but had a TON of money in the bank like those 3 do — I’d take time off to do whatever I wanted too. And I’d especially want be with family if work forced me to be away from them for 3- 4 months each year. They’ve got the luxury of being able to do it in this economy, and I can’t help but agree with the sentiment.
