Dwyane Wade: Miami Heat ‘Wanted to Win to Spite People’

Dwyane Wade says the Miami Heat embraced their status as villains last season, but perhaps a bit too much. From the Sun-Times: “Dwyane Wade says the Miami Heat ‘played off hatred’ last season. That’s why Wade believes the Heat failed to win the NBA title. In an interview with Mike Krzyzewski on the Duke coach’s show on SiriusXM Radio, Wade says ‘we wanted to win to spite people’ last season, the first where he had LeBron James and Chris Bosh as teammates. Wade continued, ‘I believe that’s the reason we didn’t win a championship.’”

Correction wade… you didn’t win because of a couple factors. 1:defense (the mavs shot 68% in one of the games for crying out loud), 2:Lebron (what more needs to be said), 3:4th quarter choking from lebron, bosh and wade (don’t think i forgot that missed game 2 ft at the end of the game wade… and bosh game 4, in the clutch, turning the ball over. Lebron… just the whole finals you choked). The heat had game 2 and game 4 in the bag and blew it.

YOU PLAY… TO WIN THE GAME!!!!!

All I here in this response is dislike for the Miami Heat, and the 3 main players on that team. Some of it is factual, but the truth is Dwyane played pretty damn good in the Finals, now many say Lebron is the closer, but obviously not, Wade had a decent Finals run. Now in no form am I saying Lebron isn’t a good player, but the Heat are essentially Wades team, once that is established, things will run smoother, correct me if I’m wrong.

i know feez. I remember watching game 4 and the heat basically gave away 44 min of hard work in the final 4. disgusting.

  • Detroit Dave

Why can’t they just admit that they got outplayed? I’ll say WAde and Lebron equally choked.

  • Mburb321

Why is he trying to go so hard now, I remember their post game conference when they all were wondering why everyone hated them. Bron was biting his nails looking down at the table, wade was looking like he was put in timeout and bosh was teary eyed so stop acting like you dont want us to like you.

Dallas vets were all there before(NBA finals)and previously failed. They KNEW what it was to lose. KNEW what it took to never feel that way again. FOCUS was the difference along with everything Feez22 said. Bad defense is hurt by good offense, it is destroyed by experience. Mia was outplayed in every facet of the game, every game.

He never said he didn’t want to be liked. Just said he embraced being hated. & saying they chocked equally is unfair. Wade had one costly turnover and one missed free throw. Lebron was gone for essentially the series after that game two collapse.

So what’s the plan for this season? Win to make people happy and try to feel good about yourselves?

  • Mburb321

Reasons why they lost, Bron is mentally weak and Marion did a good job guarding him. Wades game has not evolved at all in the past 5 years, if hes not getting to the rim hes not a factor on offense. Bosh is..bosh, oh yeah I almost forgot, Dirks one legged J, Terry and JJ going off, and Desean being that one crazy guy every championship team needs. Simple

Hahahaha….LA and bike you got my dying lauging…Some of these cats just don’t get it, and never will.

Let it go D-Wade…move on…stop opening up to the media man…

    What is there to get?

This team should be so much more scary than they are…

  • robb

@LA Huey I can see that: “Master Wade, dumb as f*ck you are. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to…sufferiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing”

  • DieselMechanic

Ahhh they’ll get it together next season.

  • call me li

i actually agree with wade. winning to rub it in someones face won’t motivate you as much as winning solely for your teams gratification. Could actually be a large factor (mentally/psychologically) in why they played so poorly to close out must-win games in the finals. If they change that this year and really just want it FOR EACH OTHER, i think they will close games better.

And @Ali, i would hope he can’t just brush off a finals loss and move on, not in 4 months, not until you win it I would think. Dirk didn’t

Problem #1 you play for yourself not for ppl….all u did was spite ya face….

  • http://slamonline.com Neitel#2

i lost 200.00$ on your heat mr. wade..and ya’ll were immature and didn’t play defense or offense…i will nver bet on the heat again, GO BROOKLYN NETS!!!!

  • BBaller

When they all paraded around like fwits on stage in pre season i thought Wade had a look on his face like he wasn’t that willing to be part of such a disgraceful display of egotism. It was Bosh’s flexing and Lebron’s words that were my fuel for disliking them so much. Now he seems just as bad. A shame really.
