Ex-NBA Player Oliver Miller Pleads Guilty to First-Degree Assault Charges

Oliver Miller entered a guilty plea on first-degree assault and weapons charges, stemming from a pistol-whipping incident. The Baltimore Sun reports: “Oliver J. Miller, 41, a former NBA player, pleaded guilty in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court to first-degree assault and carrying a handgun, allegations that stemmed from a family argument at a cookout in April. Deputy State’s Attorney Thomas J. Fleckenstein said that Miller followed Jason Worley from the cookout, and was seen whacking Worley in the head and face with a handgun outside Worley’s home before driving away. Worley suffered a concussion and other injuries, the prosecutor said, but the gun was not found. The maximum sentence would be more than 25 years, and Fleckenstein said he will seek jail time for Miller, who has no prior convictions. Judge Paul A. Hackner would allow Miller to withdraw his plea if he’s inclined to sentence him to more than 18 months, Fleckenstein said. Sentencing is scheduled for December.”

Wow, he is facing quite a heavy sentence. The weight of the evidence was clearly against him.

@ what, I see what you did there. lol

Was watching some old Suns games and Oliver Miller had game, he was just alwasys overweight. But he was a good passer for a big man, ran the floor, soft hands and could finish around the basket.

You guys are funny. Never a disappointment.
And dfrance had to stain this comment section with his observations about actual basketball. Haha. I did watch a old Suns game on NBATV the other day and I agree.

Oliver most def had game, however where Dwight Howard loves the gym this big man loves the grill. So there careers turned out quite diferently. Sad that Miller should end up pistol-whipping some guy for eating the last chicken wing.

Lol, sorry man. But i’ve been holding on to that thought for 5 days now and who knows the next time I’ll have a forum to talk about Oliver Miller.

@EtheKnickFan LMFAO! That sounds like something Philip DeFranco would say!

  • Red Star

Why would you bring a gun to a cookout anyways? Fool!

REDSTAR, WHY WOULDNT YOU TAKE A GUN TO A COOKOUT?

  • LA Huey

Red Star obviously does not know how tough it is to get that last wing.

He was a bit of an enigma really, bad press because of his weight issues but I enjoyed watching him play for the Suns back in the day.

It is common practice and considered customary to pistol-whip the cook in Anne Arundel County if he/she used vinegar based barbeque sauce instead of tomato based sauce. Them folks get mighty defensive ’bout their rib sauce.

The lesson here is: never come between Oliver Miller and his barbecue.
