Report: Isiah Thomas Angling For Billy Hunter’s Job

Many members of the media have been writing and saying that Billy Hunter may be on his way out as Executive Director of the Players Association once the lockout concludes, and if that is indeed true, the NY Post is reporting that one familiar man is looking to take that job: “How many would be stunned to learn Florida International University’s current head coach is angling in due course to replace the executive director of the Players Association should its membership feel flogged (compromised following so many compromises) by David Stern upon the completion of a new collective bargaining agreement or if negotiations again break down and additional salary (games) get forfeited? How many would be surprised to find out [Isiah] Thomas, a former president of the union during his playing days, is coiled to commandeer the slightest insinuation of instability and insurgence? Let’s see a show of hand. According to a pretty piped-in informant, skulking and stalking are exactly what Thomas has been doing as [Billy] Hunter tries not to lose further frontage to one clearly identified Nor’easter after another: Namely, commissioner Stern stage-managed by 29 owners; players poised to push for immediate decertification if a deal can’t be struck during this extensive bargaining session; weighty agents counseling clients that leadership is limp; and growing frustration among even Hunter’s staunchest supporters. It’s impossible to conceal such stress and strain.”

“Many members of the media have been writing and saying that Billy Hunter may be on his way out as Executive Director of the Players Association once the lockout concludes” – What a surprise. This is all BHunter’s fault right? Did he ace the test? No, but he surely hasn’t failed in the way many media members have portrayed it. How about DFish, their little go-to guy? Where’s his responsiblity? What about his poor descisions and stupid twitter campaigns? I’m sure the owners would love to see Zeke replace BHunter. I have to believe there are better replacements available and I’m not sure what other qualifiactions/work experience Zeke has to warrant realistic consideration…

I’m calling BS on this report. Just more subversion by the league-influenced media. Click my name for Etan Thomas words about the lockout.

Jordan on one side and Thomas on the other – ego battle.

In a strange way, he’s the perfect advocate for the players. I mean, nobody has gotten sh*ttier players more money than Zeke.

if the players are stupid enough to upgrade don king to this loser than they deserve the 47% BRI. hell, make it an even 45%.

Hey Huey, thanks man (I’ve always respected how Etan has carried himself), but good luck getting BHaywood to click on it. Now that’s something we can agree on Backboard (if only I had the hops to flush it home though)…

Etan’s last point is his weakest but also the most important.
Most people would suck it up and take the deal because most of us have little choice. So asking us what we would do isn’t smart.
But some of us wish we didn’t have to tale that deal. And that is why o @idea with the players. They don’t have to take the deal so they shouldn’t.
