Chris Paul Excused From Media Day

At the Hornets media day, Chris Paul was excused from what is normally a mandatory event. With so much speculation and turmoil surrounding Paul and the Hornets, it seems as if the organization is allowing CP3 to step away from the spotlight to focus on basketball. According to Yahoo! News, “New Orleans Hornets officials say they’ve excused Chris Paul from a normally mandatory preseason media event. Hornets spokesman Dennis Rogers says the decision to keep the star guard away from Wednesday’s event at the New Orleans Arena was mutual. Paul has not spoken to reporters since reporting for training camp last Friday.”

last few weeks have been hell for this guy, hope it works out for him

Seriously thinking we need to call CSI. Wouldn’t be surprised if Stern had him bound and gagged in a Warehouse somewhere.
“Horatio, we found his Hornet’s jersey, no sign of a body though”

For the love of God ! Please come to the Lakers Chris.
Mitch better get his act together, because at the moment, it looks as if he got rid of Odom for no reason.

  • MLK4Life

This isn’t Mitch. Jim Buss is calling the shots for the Lakers.

I bet the NBA told Demps it was mandatory then excused CP3 anyway…

People don’t understand that the Lakers didn’t any longer want Odom and got an 8.9 million dollar trade exception out of it to possibly get a younger and more effective piece. Odom was one of the reasons for the sweep and was ejected in that infamous game 4 as well. Give the Lakers management time. They have a good track record so lets not overreact over one deal

GP23…I was on the bleacher report last night and read why Mitch allowed LO to go to the Mavs.
They got a pick and 8.9 mil in return. Howards contract is 17 mil…Hedo’s contract is 10+mil..comes out to just over 28mil. Bynum’s contract is 17 mil and the 8 mil from LO brings it to 25mil. You throw in another player for a few mil…say Gerald Green (plus the body to match the 2 on 2 trade) and you get your 28-28 mil and 2 bodies..plus the Lakers own picks and the pick the acquired from Dallas and the trade would work. LA gets Howard and whatever they wanna do with “HEDONT” and Magic get Bynum and Gerald Green with some good picks. Plus he is only a few mil in the pocket so they get cap room cleared from him and hedo!

    He’s on his way out

Unfortunately I do not believe this trade would work with CP3. and to be honest, NOLA, got screwed by David Stern because the lakers and rockets gave up great pieces to make it happen. They had Martin, Scola, Dragic and LO.

Odom asked to be traded “to a team like the Mavs” — And considering how unprofessionally they had originally tried to trade him, it shouldn’t be surprised he was accommodated the very next day.

David Stern has got to be the biggest c0ckb10ck of the NBA.

It amazes me how people who come up with these crazy trades (Ldub) dont understand the simplest of details when it comes to trading rules. You can not trade a trade exception along with another player.

So media day only exists so the public can have generic, irrelevent information? If it is the team and Chris Paul that got themselves into this situation then they should have to answer for it, not get special treatment on media day. Maybe it should be renamed “prefabricated promotion day”.

    He’s a Clipper. It’s official.

Clippers gave up too much in my opinion. No way I’d have given up Gordon if I was already giving up the Minnesota pick.

  • Lew alcindor

@Kap: odom asked for the recent trade.
