Clippers Offering $40 Million, 5 Years to DeAndre Jordan


According to Yahoo! Sports, the Clippers can expect to have to up their offer once other teams start bidding on DeAndre Jordan: “Clippers offer 5 years, $40M to keep RFA DeAndre Jordan, sources tell Y! Still, he’s destined to sign offer sheet and force them to match.”

    You know, that’s as decent as an offer you can get for DeAndre Jordan since other than dunking and blocks, he hasn’t done much else. Any higher of a bid and you’re likely overpaying him.

    It’s not an overpayment actually.
    It’s less than what Perkins and Varejo are earning, and much less than what David Lee is getting. I think it might be less than what Chandler is getting.
    I would say they should have offered him $45 million over five years.

    The Clippers are willing to make a move for Dwight or Cp without the assurance they sign an extension. The only stipulation from their end is that they will not include Eric Gordon without that assurance. So yes, Chris Kaman is definitely on the move.

    @Allenp. I assume the reason why they set the bar early and at 40mill is cause another team will likely offer more, so then the Clippers will match that next offer. And if no team wants to raise that bar, well then look who they got for 40mill.

    This deal is ridiculous for Jordan. Lets keep it real, if Griffin wasn’t there, would Jordan be effective? No. His post game is below average

    He’s not a post player.
    He’s a shotblocker, rebounder, finisher. That’s all he does, and he has elite athleticism.
    Basically, he’s a younger version of Tyson Chandler, and a more athletic version of Varejo and Perkins.
    His biggest problems are consistency, free throws and foul trouble. You have to hope that improves as he matures and learns the game. People, David Lee got $12 million. Noah got the same. Based on those figures, $8 million is slightly below market value for Jordan.
    Supply and demand. Supply and demand.

    His Per 36 minute numbers, 10PP36, 10RP36, 2.5BP36 on an absurd 68% shooting. And last year was his first year where he played real minutes.
