Details of Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Monta Ellis, Warriors


News broke last night that Monta Ellis and the Golden State Warriors were being sued by a former team employee. Today, the woman and her lawyer provided details of the lawsuit. Per the San Fran Chronicle: “A former Golden State Warriors employee sued the team and guard Monta Ellis for sexual harassment, claiming the star player sent her dozens of unwanted texts that proposed sexual encounters, including a graphic photo of Ellis’ genitalia. Oakland resident Erika Ross Smith said in a lawsuit filed in Alameda County Superior Court Wednesday that Ellis began sending her explicit messages in November 2010 while she worked as the team’s director of community relations. Ellis allegedly texted Smith ‘several times in a single day, late at night or in the early morning hours,’ using a ‘secret’ telephone that was kept by an equipment manager with the team, the suit claims. The texts from Ellis included phrases like ‘I want to be with you,’ and ‘Hey Sexy,’ to which Smith responded with, ‘What do you want?’ and ‘I am sleeping,’ the suit alleges. Smith’s attorney, Burton Boltuch, said his client’s job description was abruptly changed after Ellis’ wife, Juanika Amos Ellis, learned of the texts in January and complained to team executives. Boltuch said Warriors’ executives ultimately fired his client in an attempt to rid themselves of a possible sexual harassment complaint from Smith. ‘She feared Monta,’ Boltuch said of Smith. ‘She knew if she said anything, the Warriors would choose to protect Monta, which is what they’ve done.’”

    Well, if she works for his company, and given his position he’s of a higher status than him, then his repeated sexual advances could be viewed as harassment because she may have felt pressured to indulge him or lose her position.
    Also, if she was fired or had her job changed because of unwelcome advances then she was punished for the actions of a married man.
    I don’t know if her claims are true, but I see what they men.

    Unless they’re going to do a “match the dingdong” in open court, this is likely going to go away. If the “secret telephone” wasn’t registered to Monta, then he can just claim it wasn’t him. If the equipment manager says “Huh? What phone are you talking about?” then there doesn’t seem to be much of a trail leading directly back to Monta. Dude could have kept it classier than sending pics of his wiener. He could have rolled up beside her and asked her “you gonna get in the truck or what?”

    Sorry i dont believe her claims, everything just seems very vague and the picture she might have probably came from the equipment manager anyways. Also, monta’s wife looks way better than her and if he is truly that stupid then he needs to lose that money.

    Insulting the woman doesn’t make her case less valid. I understand why women think most of us are dumb. It’s true. Also, crack jokes on a chic’s looks all you want but I’m pretty sure that when the handful of you actually lost your virginities, those chics had just as many laughs when you pullled your spiderman drawers down.

    I don’t believe a single word of her lawsuit. Texting her on a ‘secret’ phone, Monta’s married and has a son for gods sake! Seriously, its just her idea of getting some quick money. Monta’s got it all, the looks (absolutely sexy), the talent (absolutely amazing), and the love of his beautiful family. I hope he doesn’t let this psycho chick mess it all up. I would die if he stopped playing, he’s everything i hope to become as a basketball player. Absolutely outstanding, this chick just messed with the wrong guy.
