Golden State Warriors ‘Aggressively’ Pursuing Tyson Chandler

Stephen Curry is but one member of the Warriors who’d be thrilled if Tyson Chandler moved to the Bay Area. From the San Fran Chronicle: “Don’t laugh. The Warriors could find a way to sign prized free-agent center Tyson Chandler. It would take some major roster finagling, but the Warriors’ front office is aggressively studying all of the requisite moves to make the signing a possibility. Also, the team’s best players seem to be in support of the bold changes that could open salary space for Chandler. ‘It’d be huge,’ said point guard Stephen Curry, who spent six weeks with Chandler on the USA Basketball team last summer. ‘He’s a game-changer down low. That’s a coveted role that a lot of teams want to add to their roster. If he’s a guy who puts a Warriors’ jersey on, it’d be a huge addition.’ The NBA allowed teams to contact free agents Monday, and the Warriors’ brass set up a face-to-face meeting with the 7-foot-1 center and his agent, Jeff Schwartz.”

GSW will be great having Tyson Chandler protect the paint. But the guards have to do a better job defending to and not just let the other team attack the paint and foul Chandler out.

That would be a great addition for GSW. This is a playoff team for sure if it happens.

This would get them in the playoffs for sure.

he is about to get paid in a major way. I don’t think it is worth it unless he can take u over the top in order to compete for chip, like dallas last year

How much better would this really make GSW. They would still have three of their five starting players as poor defenders. The limit is two if you want to be a good defensive team.

allen, they’ll be a lot better. granted their defense is a little unorthodox focusing on turnovers, their major weakness was the inside. teams constantly pounded the inside, causing the guards to have to help and lanes becoming wide open.
with someone to hold the paint down, the guards won’t have to help as much

I will bow out to your superior knowledge. I didn’t watch enough games.

Chandler has missed how many games before last season due to health? Wasn’t it him that failed a physical a year ago that nixed a trade. And how much for how long will it take to get him? If he goes belly up again there goes 5 years for the franchise.

Obviously a healthy Chandler would help most any team. But how can we talk about him and not even consider his health.

AllenP, Orlando is an excellent defensive team and 4 of their starting 5 can’t play defense. Not comparing Chandler to Dwight, but just had to troll ;)
