Iman Shumpert Out 2-4 Weeks With Sprained Knee

The Knicks were fortunate to earn a W in today’s game against the Celtics, but some bad news came out of the day as well, as the team’s rookie guard Iman Shumpert sprained his knee and will now miss two-to-four weeks of action. Some details, via Yahoo!: “Knicks rookie guard Iman Shumpert is expected to miss two to four weeks because of a sprained right knee ligament. The first-round pick from Georgia Tech was hurt in the second half of New York’s 106-104 victory over Boston on Sunday when Celtics reserve Chris Wilcox appeared to bang into his leg. The Knicks say Shumpert sprained his MCL. Shumpert scored 11 points on 3-of-13 shooting in 22 minutes in his debut. With Baron Davis unavailable for a while with a herniated disc in his back, Shumpert was expected to provide minutes at both guard spots. The Knicks were already short-handed in the backcourt with Mike Bibby sidelined by a sore back. Also, forward Jared Jeffries left with a sore right calf and could miss a week or two.”

Damn, just when the Knicks bench looked like it had some depth. This kid has the potential to be a difference maker for this season and beyond. Hope he recovers well and soon…

    Good game, nice win today.

This could be a real shame if BD and Bibby get healthy all at the same time too. Shump may be outside looking in, whereas if got the PT now he’d be able to prove himself without looking over his shoulder. With is size maybe a move to 2-guard would help…

I hope he recovers quick. I am definitley a fan of his playing style and his athleticism promises to make him an exciting guy to watch. Plus, I decided to gamble on him in my fantasy draft. Promising debut today all things considered…

I can’t believe how dumb knicks fans are. Y’all booed this SHOOTING GUARD when he got drafted. Now he’s “the point guard of the future”, “a potential 6th man of the year winner”, “future all-star”, “one of the best defensive wings in the league?” Hahah idiots.
