Kobe Bryant Confirms He’ll Play in Lakers’ Season Opener

Los Angeles Lakers fans haven’t received too much good news of late, but come Christmas Day, they can at least rest assured in the knowledge that Kobe Bryant will be in the lineup despite a wrist injury. Per the Daily News: “What, Kobe Bryant worry? ‘I should be fine,’ he said Thursday. Bryant also said he intends to play in the Lakers’ regular-season opener Sunday against the Chicago Bulls at Staples Center. He has no intention of allowing a minor annoyance such as a torn ligament in his right wrist to keep him from playing. ‘I’ll just try to take care of it,’ he said defiantly of his tender and swollen wrist. ‘It’s always been in my nature to try to figure out a way to play. The injuries I’ve had I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to play through. I haven’t had injuries where it could get worse. I’ve had tears of ligaments and they’re just not there anymore, so it’s not like it’s going to get any worse. So, if you can play through the pain, if you can catch a basketball, you should be fine.'”
