Kobe Bryant Says His Knee and Wrist are Doing Fine

Kobe Bryant discussed his rash of injuries with the assembled press prior to last night’s game against the New York Knicks, and the Lakers’ superstar says that his troublesome knee and wrist are holding up just fine. From the OC Register: “Kobe Bryant said Thursday his troublesome right knee is ’95 percent better’ after the innovative procedure he underwent in the offseason. ‘As close to 100 percent as it’s going to get,’ Bryant said. Bryant was approached about the molecular scientist Peter Wehling’s procedure, which involves injecting the patient’s own blood as a serum into the problem area, by baseball star Alex Rodriguez. ‘I gave him the phone number,’ said Bryant, who added that his message to Rodriguez was: ‘It made a huge difference for me.’ Bryant, 33, has had two surgeries on the knee and was held out of most Lakers practices last season because of it. Asked about cutting-edge medical treatments, Bryant said: ‘It’s my job to know these things.’ He said he was ‘thorough’ in researching whether the benefits are worthwhile and legitimate and noted: ‘You’ve got people you pay to know these things. You keep ‘em around to know these things.’ About Rodriguez benefiting from the treatment, Bryant said he was excited ‘as a Yankees fan.’ Bryant came into the Lakers’ locker room Thursday night wearing a immobilizing brace over his right wrist as he tries to heal the torn ligament in there while still playing. Bryant said the wrist felt ‘all right’ and ‘a lot better’ Thursday. […] Bryant said he did not expect to need surgery on the wrist after the season.”
