Report: Arron Afflalo Re-Signs in Denver for 5 Years, $43 Million

The Denver Nuggets continue to slowly piece back together their team, re-signing Arron Afflalo to a contract extension. Reports the Denver Post: “Almost a week after they re-signed Nene, the Nuggets and Arron Afflalo agreed on terms of a new contract — for five years and as much as $43 million, an NBA source said — that will keep one of the league’s budding shooting guards in Denver. Afflalo, 26, averaged 12.6 points last season while showcasing gritty defense and intensity. Nuggets coach George Karl has called Afflalo one of the favorite players he’s ever coached. When the NBA lockout ended, the Nuggets’ priorities were to bring back Nene and Afflalo. Both could receive the enticing fifth contractual year that other teams couldn’t offer. Nene signed a five-year deal worth $67 million.”

Love the Nuggets and love Triple A but 43m over 5 years? Hmmmm…

Afflalo got paiiid! And this is why no one wanted to bid for him, cause Denver would match it anyways!

  • LA Huey

    $8M a year? A bit too high.

    wow…

so their future for now is nene and afflalo?

Afflalo was gettin that money somewhere regardless. And judging by Denver’s lack of depth, they had to do this.

lack of depth? their the deepest team in the league. at LEAST two deep at every position. would be more deep if chandler, k-mart and JR wern’t in China.

    How is that too high?
Dude is a very good starter on both ends of the court. He isn’t a serious creator off the dribble, but he can put the ball on the floor when necessary. He knocks down shots. Takes tough assignments on defense and plays hard every night. Plus he’s really smart on the floor.
Those are the type of players that should be making $8 million in their prime.

  • LA Huey

I think he’s $6M a year. For perimeter players, I think $8M is for borderline All-Stars or guys with that potential. As good as AA is, he’s reach his ceiling.

Denver is about as deep as my cereal bowl.

Lawson/Miller, Afflalo/nobody, Gallinari/Brewer Harrington(lmao)/Faried, Nene/Mozgov/Anderson. And they have Jordan Hamilton, who will not produce enough to make them better if he does anything at all. That team is in really really bad shape.

$6 million is what Mike Miller got.
I think Arron is clearly better than Miller.
All-Star level, to me would be about $10 million. Franchise level is the max, which is $$13 million with Afflalo’s current number of years in the League.
I think people haven’t really watched dude play enough.

Somewhere in China JR Smith is laughing his arse off.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

No, he’s crying. Because he is being held hostage basically. And he volunteered for it.

I don’t think this is a bad deal at all. He is one of my favorite players in the league

  • LA Huey

Allenp, all things considered, Mike Miller has clearly underperformed. I think at the top of their games, he and Afflalo are a coin flip apart. But I’ll admit, I’ve only seen Afflalo in about a dozen or so games the past two seasons.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

At the top of their games I’ll take Mike Miller. No question about it too me.

  • Natty dreads

Mike Miller is effing garbage do you not watch the nba?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Do you watch the NBA? Or did you just watch some games last season?

  • LA Huey

Your sample size of Mike Miller is effing garbage. Did you not watch the NBA before 2010?

The Nuggets have a couple of good pieces over in China. They really didn’t need to overpay Afflalo. They only had to wait one season. lol.

At least Wilson Chandler seems to be enjoying himself over their. He’s killing it. Probably 30-40 ppg and 15 rpg.

I remember when aaron was a shy geeky kid who always walked around with a basket ball. It’s so crazy to see him killin it on the court still. He is worth every bit that he signed for, More people should look at his overall history to see how truly talented he is.
