Report: Derrick Rose’s New Shoe Deal to Pay Him Close to $250 Million


Derrick Rose’s personal wealth continues to swell. According to ESPN, shoe and apparel giant adidas is about to break the bank for the Chicago Bulls’ superstar point guard with a new “lifetime” shoe deal. In fact, it might be several banks: “One industry source insisted to ESPN.com this week that Rose’s new shoe deal with adidas will easily crack nine figures and could legitimately approach the $250 million range — as in $25 million annually over a 10-year span — in what is known in the shoe game as a ‘lifetime’ deal. How can the reigning MVP possibly command those kind of dollars as a shoe endorser? Here’s how: Rose, as it was explained to me, is adidas’ only counter to Kobe Bryant in China. I’m told Rose already outsells LeBron James there.”

    @shm – Thanks for the history lesson (no sarcasm, I genuinely enjoy learning new things). I suppose I I should’ve known it wasn’t “join or die” since I remember reading about Erwin Rommel and how despite being one of the highest ranking German officers, he never considered himself a Nazi and said he did what he did for Germany, not for a political party or a dictator.

    Damn, nuccas is still trippin’ over that one comment I made?! Sensitive ass kids. I’ll say my bad to anyone that felt offended, but if you just feel like you’re holier than thou for whatever reason and wanna be quick to judge me and call me a racist because I grew up in an entirely different culture, hit the bricks, man. If dude would’ve just came and said, “Yo O, that’s not cool. It bothers me.” I would’ve apologized. But to come out and automatically say, “Racist, much?” That got me tight. So no, I ain’t saying my bad. I’m not apologizing for where I grew up, how I grew up or the vocab I used growing up, and if you want to label me something i’m not because of that, then keep it moving.

    It’s not that serious. ‘Slanted’ is better than ‘chinky’. Just like homey up top said, it’s equally wrong to describe somethhing as n*ggerish. When people use upbringing as an excuse, I always point out that rednecks are often a product of their upbringing as well. Still, I’m stomping any of ‘em that feel bold enough to use the slur n*gga/n*gger in my presence. We can’t tell people how to feel about slurs used towards their race or ethnicity, regardless of our intentions. Btw, I was born and raised in Bk (Albany Projects, Bed-Stuy Do-or-Die). I don’t use it as an excuse. How about everyone just grow up and chill out?
