Report: Eddy Curry to Sign With the Miami Heat

Having flirted with the idea of signing Eddy Curry for months now, it appears that the Miami Heat are finally ready to make it reality. From ESPN: “The Heat, who are in the market for help at the center position, have been monitoring Curry for months and considered signing him at one point last season. Curry has maintained a relationship with LeBron James for several years and has been focused on getting ready for Heat training camp all summer and fall, sources said.”

why not? no risk at all.

Let me guess… Eddy Curry has been working out with the cirque du soleil doing flips and swinging through the air and is down to 235 pounds with 2% body fat and has been wrestling with Tigers to get down to 1.0% body fat by season start.

  • bull22

this is so hilarious, these jokers are so desperate for a title, LOL!
we need to rename the heat the miami guns for hire…

  • James Aka…

I hope he’s successful. It would be nice to see someone fall and get up for good.

  • AqWord

    Nooooooooo !!!

Although I haven’t seen Curry play in years, don’t sleep on him! He might not play much defense but at least he can score. He’s pretty much the opposite of Joel Anthony. lol.

  • bull22

    Miami Flames…*pow*

  • Red

    ….BAHHHH HAAAAAAAAHAHAHA. :|

  • ksupreme

i’m a big hater when it comes to the heat….but this really isn’t a risk at all. Whether he’s good or bad, he’s a presence inside, leave it to dwade and the 2 other p*ssies

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Not a bad move. I’m interested to see how this pans out–I think Curry has a lot to prove.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

He should just be happy to still be in the L while other deserving players (Flip Murray, Iverson, etc.) aren’t.. He should take his money, buy a big house in the Keys, and a boat. That way he can do his little dance singing- “Fat guy, on a little boat”.

  • Big Balls Smalls.

gonna average a double-double this season….from Mickey D’s that is ohhhhh *bangs drums*

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Flip Murray and Iverson both are responsible for their not being in the League. It’s not Curry’s fault.
And just wait until the Bulls have to sign Rose to that big extension. Then, they will either have to trade a key player, or be stuck trying to convince free agents just like the Heat.
You can’t pay Boozer, Noah, Deng, Rose and Caron Butler. When you still have to Asik and Gibson.

  • DieselMechanic

This is great! He should probably donate atleast one year of his contract to charity tho after the last contract that he signed lol.

  • c.a.

With that body this is the only flirting that Curry is ever going to receive. Women and daughters are locking themselves away when he comes calling.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

WHAAAAAT Allen? Not Currys fault?….. Really? It’s Flip Murray’s fault, but not Eddy currys. Not following.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

I’m betting there are all kinds of performance and behavior clauses in that one year deal.

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

Allenp, How is it not Curry’s fault he’s fat and lazy?

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

    Groupie h*es don’t care, they’ll f*ck a walrus if it has money.

  • bike

I hope the big guy makes a go of it but really, this should be his last chance. He has been given a heck of a lot of breaks with little in return.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

@Allenp. Caron Butler? Did they get an agreement from him already or something?

  • http://slamonline.com Brad Long

On the plus side, The Heat are paying him in Hamburgers so it won’t effect their cap space.

  • Patrick

Flip Murray shud be in the league Imo… I think he’s one of the best one on one players for his size

  • KHALID SALAAM

its interesting but i dont know if it changes anything in the long run. whats his conditioning like? he hasn’t played any meaningful minutes in a while. Plus the heat need rebounding more than scoring–though his offensive presence discourages leaving in alone. that will clear the floor up more for wade and james. i don’t have a viewpoint on how this will turn out but i guess its worth the risk.

Also, all the cursing on this page makes you guys look like a bunch of middle school kids. Step your vocab up.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

If he makes it to the regular season, I’d be shocked.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

    lol@Brad Long.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

I hear Rick Ross does like Miami.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

Wait I thought Rick Ross was already signed in Miami?

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

I’m going to make a lot of Rick Ross-Eddy Curry jokes.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

Do you think every rebound he pulls down, he’ll say, “Uhhh.”

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

Do you think Eddy Curry will bring out Rozay before or after or during the games?

  • Heals

Who cares, unless he’s healthy enough to play in and thru June it doesn’t matter. It’s nothing against him (hopefully for himself shht comes together this year), but c’mon anybody excited about this signing either loves the Heat or owns an eating establishment in South Beach…

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

I heard that the contract calls for Eddy Curry to perform Maybach Music at every home game during halftime.

  • http://slamonline.com Brad Long

Every day I’m Struggling, Struggling, Struggling…

  • LA Huey

“Flip Murray and Iverson both are responsible for their not being in the League. It’s not Curry’s fault.” = It’s not Eddy Curry’s fault Flip and AI don’t have NBA jobs anymore. Murray and Iverson are grown men that made their own boneheaded decisions and have to live with them.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

It’s not Curry’s fault he’s getting a shot and Iverson and Flip aren’t.
Neither play defense, both shoot a lot, and Iverson pouted in his last two jobs and made demands about what he wouldn’t do.
    Curry did none of that.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

“It’s not Curry’s fault he’s getting a shot” Hmmm, still not following.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Im not saying its Eddy’s fault, I’m just saying if i’m looking to sign free agents, I’d take those guys before Curry. I guess Miami DOES need a little help at the 5, but I’d take Stephen Hill or Robert Swift before I take Eddy and his (lack of) work ethic..

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

    ^ love, BossTerry…. Sorry Lake.

  • vtrobot

Ha ha, what Heals said. I mean, what are the chances that he’ll do well and make an impact all season? When was the last time that someone with Eddy’s potential failed to reach it for their entire career, and then really progressed at the very end? Let’s be realistic here.

  • http://www.kittywildeonline.com RunNGun

This will be a great signing by the Miami Heat. Someone’s got to eat all that catered food in the locker room and look like three people on the bench with that double chin…

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The difference between Eddy Curry and every other (minimum salary) big on the market…….WHEN Eddy Curry IS in shape, he is a very effective basketball player.

  • @DEKNOWZ

He gets a ring and I’m gonna throw up in my mouth!

  • shutup

What type of shape is he in? This could be great for them, just hope he can get cleared physically (dunno about his heart condition)

  • LA Huey

I know weight jokes are funny (especially when the target is a professional athlete) but don’t you guys remember this guy had a pretty effed up tragedy not too long ago. You know when his ex-girlfriend and infant daughter were MURDERED? Oh, and his 3yo son was a witness to it all?

  • MUBWAR

you guys are killing me wit fat jokes. but honestly I hope this doesn’t backfire on the Heat

  • iLL will

A little disappointed in the lack of jokes here, but I do wish ECity the best. Hope he takes full advantage of this.

  • tracemc24

    MIAMI EAT

  • cheesewiz

as a non heat fan (to say the least) if reports are true to curry getting into shape? im scared.

  • denmark

lake show..that is a genius comment…! curry i still think would be stupid…they should have it so joel anthony is second option..thats good! how they do that…get that, dont care everybody in todays basketball are whores so they can get someone easy…( hate the heat ).

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

I hope he signs a one-year deal, plays well and then gets a shot with another team; he’s still young enough to have four or five good years left if he can maintain the weight loss he supposedly achieved.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Co-sign LA Huey. People are relentless to this guy.

  • http://dillanleuyahoo.com Holy Baller

Curry used to be good. Then he took an arrow to the knee.

  • DukeFromDeep

Ahahahaha . This is hysterical. Eddy “Midnight munchie” Curry. Ahahaha

  • T-Ray

Flemming had me rolling lol every rebound he’ll say uhhh! Haha

  • !ckon81

Here’s a picture of curry signing his contract. If his face shape is anything to go by he looks pretty good.
