Report: Knicks, Lakers Have Highest Ticket Prices

Heading into an abbreviated ’11-12 campaign, the Knicks and Lakers lead the L in average home ticket prices, followed by the Heat and Bulls. According to our friends at TiqIQ, seats at the Garden are currently up 56.4 percent from last year, averaging in at $353.62. Despite the sharp rise, Knicks tickets still are a hair cheaper than buying a seat at Staples—the Lakers home ticket average is currently at $365.82. Good luck copping a ticket for when LeBron visits L.A. this March: Average-priced tickets for that showdown are already at $696.10.

And, of course, if you’re looking for tickets to watch your favorite NBA team, check out SLAMTIX.

Wonder how much Jack Nicholson pays for his seat??

  • LA Huey

Makes sense. Popular teams, deep-pocketed fan bases.

  • jono

It cost me 35 to watch the heat at the pepsi centre.

  • tomtom

THIS is why the atmosphere at NBA games just arn’t the same anymore, the people who attend are not necisarilly die hard fans but just those who can afford it. And good luck if you want a courtside seat at staples because you love your team, it to full up with people who can afford to sit there because they only attend to get there picture in magazines. The real fans have to watch the big screen…

  • tomtom

Wow, i shocked myself, i didn’t know is was possible to spell necessarily so badly.

has anyone had the broadband LP ? Is there any lagging or interuptions with the live stream? Im thinking about trying it out instead of the television one.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

It’s $169 dollars this year. Not even discounted.

  • http://www.slamonline.com megatron

so the League Pass TV is the only one with a discount offered? (10% is a joke but its still 10%)..

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Yeah buddy. Well if you ordered leaguepass last year you get a 15% discount on either, look at Sebastian Pruiti’s twitter, he tweeted the password for the offer i believe. Did you ever find my twitter anyway?

LOL @MikeC. true that. why is this news?

  • http://slamonline Brion

Honestly I think its now the fans time to be on strike. Imagine if we all decided not to go to any of the first games of the year and teams show up to empty arenas. Maybe they would make some sort of fan appreciation package. Yah probably not.

  • Heals

They give a first week discount every year. Just ucking weak on the NBA’s part. $169 with the shortened season, thanks alot higher ups. Go uck yourself this holiday season, signed yours truly NBA (scratch that Basketball) fans everywhere…

I’m not surprised that the Lakers/Knicks are the most expensive average price, but I am slightly surprised that the average is so high. I’m really surprised that the drop off in average price is so steep. More than 2x more expensive in LA/NY versus chicago. Who has the ceapest tickets?

  • http://theurbangriot.com The NUPE

    cheapest tickets

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

NUPE: Based off data from TiqIq, looks like the Timberwolves followed by the Cavs and Pistons.

  • shuref00t

As a Knicks fan, I can’t wait until the Nets move to Brooklyn. It’s probably the only affordable way to watch them live when they’re playing against them.

  • EtheKnickFan

You can get magic tickets for the same price it costs to use MSG bathroom.

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

EtheKnickFan: Once Dwight leaves, it’ll be the price to breathe the air within a 2 block radius of MSG.

  • http://slamonline.com neitel

too expensive if u ask me

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

speaking of the Knicks…they have a guy called Amar’e Stoudamire on their roster, and he was thinking about starting a Hebrew school in inner city New York….well I just watched a documentary on HBO called ‘Strangers No More’ about a Hebrew School for young refugees around the world in Tel Aviv….absolutely amazing, I haven’t been so inspired by anything television programming like that in ages. Absolute must see, heartwarming, touching, inspiring……..anyways yeah them ticket prices is way too high

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

But which team in the league has the highest players?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

joey E… you gotta work harder man for that $$$ for home games… maybe go watch the clippers this season… same stadium after all.

  • Niyagirlfresh

They might wanna lower them now the way the team looks at this point. Not many people are gonna wanna see them play this season.
